hi, i've wanted and liked fire eels for a long time and look at them every time i set my eyes on them!
today i visited my lfs and he has about 6 of them in at about 7 inch and are £7.50 each, i have never seen them this cheap, they are definately fire eels! i've researched them alot and really like them, i have my 4 foot tank to put them in and in a couple of months getting a really large tank to house them if i purchase. is £7.50 a good price for a 7 inch fire eel? i think i might buy one anyway! at bas they were about 40 quid for fish around 10 inch and i've seen them at pets at home in manchester for 20 quid for about 8 inch fish. just double checking before i buy tomorow really, anyideas please????
cheers
David

Sounds a fair price to me, or even quite cheap. Work's fire eels are about 8" and cost £24-99 each...

mine cost the same @ 5" lol but i could of had a 22" for £28 but i didn't have the tank for one that big then lol the lfs just wanted rid of it.

a very good price mate get one bought pick me one while your at it too lol cheeky

are fire eels tropical then?? i never knew.....

there cool but......i dont think they would go well in my 60L tank lol

At £7.50 I'd buy them all! Sell the 'spares' others at £10 each and make a profit....

Seriously though, that's a good price. I'm guessing this LFS is in Lancaster? :( sometimes not driving is a real pain in the rear.

Good price that Dave

I;d buy a couple as well cos with these fish sometimes they feed sometimes they don;ty and you;d have no trouble moving the speare one on

well in the wild they get up to nearly a metre long so need a large tank, never seen one that big in an aquarium though! so £7.50 is good for a 6 inch fish then!
i think im still only going to get one though, as it will be in my 4 foot until i get the bigger one set up!
the lfs is in morecambe were i live, near lancaster!
he has some nice gold nuggets in aswel about 4 inch for £20, im tempted!
over the last couple of months something has been nipping my pink tailed characin, its onr of the bigger fish at 7 inch, quite bulky and nice teeth! i thought it was my mystus leucophasis (burmese upside down catfish) as it comes out at night now and again bossing others around, but yesterday i saw the bush fish on numerous occasions charge at it and bite it! the bugger! if it carries on it will have to go! i love it and would be sorry to see it go but the characin is easily one of my favourites so it aint goin nowere!
