Found an interesting pic on this site while looking for an example of a blood parrot for another thread...
I've always thought my hybrid fishy might be a mix of midas and sweetheart blood parrot, being that she's missing her tail, but wasn't sure exactly what a hybrid of those two fish would look like... as it turns out, it would look very much like this! The website calls it a "koy" (aka koi, probably,) parrot. My fish matches the shape of this fish more than anything else I've ever seen, so I'm going to consider this proof of my suspicions :D

Oh, and here's my girly ;)

Thats Great, Always Liked the Little Darling

Aw shucks, I like her too
You should have seen her spawn brother... I got him first, then added her to the mix and he turned extremely aggressive so it was back to the LFS with him.
Here's a pick of the bro from the short time he was in my tank:

And yes, they were dyed at first (see the blue on his back?) My LFS owner said she wasn't expecting them to be dyed when she ordered them, and won't be ordering any more.

why would anyone want to dye an already beautiful fish????????????????????????????????????????
That's what I was thinking!! It's already gorgeous, why not just leave it alone?

it looks to me like a heart shaped parrot X red devil/midas. Could just be a red devil with its tail cut off. i think thats how they make heart shaped parrots

Awesome ****ing fish. Wow thats a beautiful fish congrads. Now the question is how do you go about getting a Koi and parrot to fall in love?

looks like a parrot X midas with its tail cut off... ive come to that conclusion after staring at it for awhile lol

will be interesting to see how big it gets.. probably will be large and in charge

The tail was not cropped, it is a genetic deformity that is sometimes bred for in blood parrots. It pops up in other fish as well from time to time... I think someone posted a pic of their tailless angel recently. I've seen fish with cropped tails and it's pretty obvious that this isn't one of them, since the dorsal and anal fins actually meet in the back and there's no room where a tail might have ever been :)

I personally would prefer it if Marie had a tail, but she's just so cute I couldn't pass her up, even with her deformity.

Edited for typos.

I guess some people like it? :dunno:
Just look at what they've done to goldfish... apparently deformities are popular in some circles

yea... anything to make $$$$$

i always liked ''weird'' fish... but some of the things they do is just nuts

the dye job on your fish looks like it was pretty slack.. looks so much better without dye.. i have dyed fish, but i dont 'endorse' them..

how big is it? looked pretty small in the first pics... but the one with the other fish in the tank made it look bigger
