I have a 3 foot tank, I think about 150 litres. First of had a undergravel filter (came with tank), didn't like it, water always looked greenish.
Got told by pet shop to change to power filter, or internal sponge (I have been told all different types of filters, I'm now totally confused)
Finally brought a canister filter on box it says maximum 120 litres, I told the pet shop I had 150 litres, but they said this was fine!!
Now I am still looking at my tank waiting for it to go crystal clear, always seems to be little things floating in the tank.
I have some live plants, and some plastic.
Finally, left half the undergravel filter in tank, (as per instructions on box)
Getting very frustrated :shout:
I know my tank is over stocked roughly 40 fish. including pregenant mollies and guppies.

Any suggestions on Filters, should I add an internal just to be safe.

You will want to add another filter. As since your tank is overstocked, you should be overfiltering. Not sure what filters are in your area, but if your able to I would consider purchasing another cansiter filter.

ive got a 250l with uindergravel and a 900l/h internal..... works a charm....
P.S. some people might disagree with me but i find that some of teh no name brands are better than the big names. my 900 no name is by far the best damn filter i have ever had. i would consider going with a no name to save some money but if that is not a factor for you then go all out and buy the best you can afford.

The person who said that has no clue what he is talking about, because it depends on several factors whether it's going to be enough.

you can pick up an aquaone canister filter very cheaply in most lfs's, they work well enough to use if you don't want to sell a kidney for an Eheim (this is my situation). I would add the new filter to your current system (probably try and go for around 900l/hr if you can) so you have plenty of healthy bacteria in your systems. I think you'd be looking at about $35 for this.
HTH.
