Hi,

I'm buying a complete set up from someone online and he said the filter is a whisper 30-60 rear hang-on.

Does anyone know whether or not this is a good filter for a 40 gallon tank? Or a good filter in general?

HOBs are limited on media volume... far better to go with a canister, if you can accommodate it.
