Ian,The courtship rituals of many species of Cory can be quite aggressive and it is not only with the long snouted species.Sometimes it is very difficult to distinguish between what is courting and what is aggression. Some species are indeed territorial, but many develop 'Alpha' pairs before mating starts, but this bond is broken once the spawning session is complete.

Very interesting, i had no idea corys could/do exhibit this sort of behaviour, learn something new everyday...How would one tell if they were "fighting" and not just schooling/playing together. I dont think i would ever know if mine were fighting because they stick together they are always running over each other, but in no way is it aggressive. What kind of behaviour do aggressive corys exhibit? thanks in advance Ian!
