Female Puppy Heat?

yea we r not rdy now.but we will be when we get the chance to breed her....do we have to buy a male dog to get them to breed cause i dont want a male dog in the house either..we r keeping a female pup from the litter no males..because of all the female dogs in all of our family and we cant have a male when we go visit them...plus we dont want her to keep having babies with a male around??

Seriously how many times do people have to repeat. Just cause you may be ready in the future doesn't mean she'll still be a suitable candidate for breeding...

Are you actually being genuine?
No of course you don't need to buy a male dog, you can go to a stud dog that you and someone EXPERIENCED IN THE BREED, have picked out as a suitable match for your girl.
And that's ridiculous! Of course you can keep a male and mix males and females... so long as he's neutered. Or do you not spay/neuter any of your dogs? Not only is this silly because it's so easy to end up with unwanted pups, but spaying and neutering has real health benefits for the dogs!

my mate first bred her male pure bred German shep. by scouting her local park. She saw a stunning female GS a couple of times and approached her owner. Hey presto, next time she was in heat, they bred and had the most adorable pups, cheapest went for £700 but both are pedigreed and have a 6 generation family tree.

With breeding, it is usually seen that there is a compromise over vet bills, i know people that have had the male dog's owners pay for the b*tche's check-ups.

It's not a decision to take lightly, tbh, it is best off doing yrs of research, if that is the key. Atleast plan 1yr in advance

However, if your dog isn't pedigreed, then there is a very low chance of you getting a full bred owner to comply with breeding. So you are best off doing your research now.

Lol, at the end of the day it doesn't matter where you find them so long as you know what you're looking for. Aswell as such a long family tree I would presume they were both health checked for all the common german shepherd ailments.

yes i understand she may have sum problems in the future and i know i wont be able to breed her if she does...i dont want a male even if he is nuetered cause my stepbrother has a male neutered dog and he is wild and pees to mark his territory..thats why we got a female.but i will be happy to keep a little buddy around to be king lol..I WISH there was a dog park around here!!! i wish! but this spanish water dog is rare around where i live and ppl have portugeuse ones but idk if that means crossbreeding..can u neuter her after she has pups?? if so that is what e r going to do if not to much stress

A reputable breeder will know what they're talking about when it comes to dogs, and they should know the breed they breed inside and out. If you can't answer the question you're asking then don't breed your dog. No, not all neutered males will mark their territory and act wild. Yes, breeding with a portuguese water dog will produce mutts. Yes, a female can be spayed after the litter is weaned.

yeah, my mate's parents used to breed GS and rotties for 15yrs, so she knows the score with that. Nothing gets passed her, although, she did lose her beloved female rottie from hip issues, after breeding once her pregnancy miscarried cus of it she never made that mistake again

thank u for answering my quesions and the links r useful too...sry to hear about ur friends dog ...im not going to breed her until im well educated about this..plus i have the help of my parents and ppl who will take the pups off my hands if we had to...i read one of those links tolak gave me and under eliminating faults..it says timidness..so that can be taken out from her if..if she is scared still then she wont let a dog breed with her..let alone get near her

Also consider that with any pregnancy there is a risk to the mother and pups - could you handle the vets bills and will you be experienced enough to handle complications? Not being 100% sure about either of these could lead to illness or death of mum and/or pups.

Also have you checked whether your dog is suitable for breeding? She will need to be thoroughly checked over by a vet, and I dont mean a standard check up. Same with the father. You should be able to find some information already on the dog's papers, check it because noone with any sense will buy a puppy from a dog with, for instance, a bad hip score.

EDIT: also your b*tch mating does not mean she is not timid, a scared dog can still be gotten pregnant. You can try socialising her to see if she improves I guess, it may turn out to be a fault on your part not a personality issue.

well she is aggressive with male dogs and she is EXTREMELEY jelous!! i picked up my stepbrothers dog before and she jumped up to try to pull him down and barked and cried...hopefully when she gets older things will change if not training is underway! ive already tought her to sit stay lie down stand and come which is pretty good hopefully..
ok im gonna just lay it out..breeding will not take place unless my dog has a problem cause i wud never put her thru that...NEVER! she is my first and only dog. take her to the vet..if everythin is ok i need to find a healthy perfect male for her of the same breed..we have to make sure we have enough money too..if not we cant do it..i have a cousin who left their male and female dog in the basement and got checked on and she had 7 litters of puppies in her life and they r all living today and nothing cost them one dime..but they sold the pups so they got money from them.anyway after the vet checkup just wait for her heat.then the pups..how long do i wait for them to get away from their mother to give away to friends??

I suggest you buy a book about breeding, make sure its an up to date one.

we have 2 rotties and we considered breeding them at one point as they are both bred from show dogs with many champions in their family trees. but after much consideration we decided against it because the bad publicity about rotties was putting people off buying them, and we didn't want the pups to go to a bad home. also Millie had a phantom pregnancy so we had her spayed as the vet said it could happen again and we didn't think it was fair on her.

that doesn't sound like timid to me, it sounds like your dog is quite aggressive. i don't think that you should breed from an aggressive dog. do any of your other dogs show any signs of aggression at all?
