" i got a female mollie last week and i went to the tank this afternoon and she was having babies so i caught and put her in the breeding tank and i got 18+ fry."

Woohoo! You're going to be knee-high in fry before long! lol
Have you any pictures yet?

"got 2 more platies to have her fry in the next day so im going to have loads of fry now."

Not sure I follow this last sentence apart from the having loads of fry, but you seem to be expanding your tank population every week. I'm sure you don't need reminding to keep an eye on the water quality in case there's an ammonia spike which will lead to stressed fish or worse.
Good luck with the fry and post a picture as soon as you can!

hi yeah i had tank tested and everything ok. and when i said im waiting for my female platy to have hers in the breeding tank she is now having them but she slowly having them one at a time unlike the mollie where she had one after another.
I wont be over run as i have a home for them as my mam going to take some and the pet store where i got them from said they will take some off my hands. i will defiantly keep an eye on the tank. cant get any pics as my phone being fixed at the mo, but as soon as i get it back i will post some for you.

the female is taking her time with giving birth, do you think this is going to be a long birth with this female?

That's good - my son is going to have some of mine and my LFS said they'd have some too, but only at 3-4 months old by which time there'll have been 3 more lots! I'm doing twice weekly tests as the fry are growing and I now have 17+ including the adults in a 60L tank. Have just bought an electric water pump and hose (very reasonable on Ebay) for doing the pwc which may have to be done more frequently as they get older and produce more waste.

TBH I've never witnessed mine giving birth as she had both lots that I knew about overnight when the lights were out. She was a fat mama in the evening and then superslim the next morning! If she's new to breeding I suppose it could be slower - I have seen videos on Youtube of platys/swordtails giving birth and the fry just seemed to slip out quickly, but you don't know if they've been edited to show only the highlights!

Good luck with the new fry!
