Female not interested?

Bettas do not "settle in just fine" in the course of one day. If you're not careful you're going to stress your fish into illness!

*edit* can i also add that when I brought home my second betta he was so stressed from moving from my friends house to my house (about an hour away) that he got VERY ill and died within 2 days...this was with NO additional stress at all. */edit*

trust us!!!! you cannot breed them straight away!!!! wait ATLEAST till next weekend!!! NOT THIS WEEKEND........NEXT WEEKEND!!!!

As I said in his other post, he's 15 years old. You can't tell some kids anything, don't waste your time. He's not going to listen.

im 15 but atlest i have conditioned my bettas for 10 days ready for the spawning this weekend!!

I have also got a spawning tank, 2 growout tanks and my betta barracks will be complete in about a weeks time so i am well prepared. Also i have read up everything i could find on breeding bettas!!!! i mean EVERYTHING!!!!

 No offense meant to you. You'll note I said "some kids". There are those on this forum younger than you who know far more than I do. I have two kids in their 20's, one who will listen, research and learn, and the other thinks there is no one in the world smarter than she is, so I don't waste my breath arguing with her. :)

EDIT: and oh yea, what type of bettas are they again? you just said they are not veiltails - so what then? can we see a pic of the male too?

!!!!! you have already been told what to do!!! read!!! get jars ready!!! find out where they are going to be homed!!!! you are not listening to anybody and are wasting our time with this nonsense!!! they must've not been "conditioned at the lfs with live food for 2 weeks" (and i'm sure most lfs would not waste money on live food just to sell off a "pair")!!!!! also, unless youre a fish psychologist you do not know that the fish have "settled in just fine"...give them the time that they NEED no matter how they may APPEAR to you!!!! oh yea, and enough !!!!!!'s already!!!!!!!!!!!

calm down, be young, worry about more important things for now unless you have the MONEY to deal with this hobby (if breeding bettas could even be considered a hobby - more like a task/job at times)

and seriously dont ask questions and then report back to everyone that you are doing the exact opposite of what was suggested by (almost) professionals...you'll make a lot of enemies really fast

Male has finished building bubblenest and i let the female in and they are laying their eggs! :)
You know - you should actually be ashamed of yourself. It's almost like you're trying to taunt everyone here with asking them what to do, then bragging about not having followed anyone's suggestions and not even responding to anything anyone's saying.

I know NOTHING about breeding so I won't lecture you on that, but I can guarantee you that the people on this forum are experts in that and you should have listened to them. :grr:

I SERIOUSLY hope you will at least start doing your homework, you have a growout tank and you've prepared a place to keep your jars once they're ready for jarring. AND you've researched what kind of food they need, etc. ANNNNNNNNNNND where you'll place your fry once they're grown up and ready to leave the "nest".

I hope for the sake of all the fish that will be affected by this that you are furiously doing your homework right now.

By the sounds of you people you think i know nothing about what i am doing, well, I DO! I have done a lot of research and everybody has their own ways of doing things!!! I am a mate of the person who owns the lfs and so he has fully conditioned the fish!!!

what type of betta are they then!!! it doesnt matterif they have been conditioned at the LFS!!! they will still need to be conditioned in your tank!!! they have just moved homes and thereforeneed to settle in!!! i got fish from bettaman last week and he conditioned them for a week but when i got them i still conditioned them for 10 days!!!

These parrot man threads are giving me a headache. Good work though guys. Sometimes it's hard to get through to people.

PM~ I certainly hope your fish recover from this. Just imagine yourself making the biggest move of your life to a new unfamiliar place and then also being asked to perform the biggest task of your life on the same day. What a busy day your fish have had -_-

We are trying to help.....it may take up to four days before she is happy with the nest the male has built just let them be and let them get on with it thats the best advice don't try and force a spawn if nothing has happened after four days then count it as a no spawn and re condition and try again after two weeks, if they are going to spawn they will, but not with any help from you... if not then they wont and may even kill each other.. nice female.. patience is a virtue.......
