This may sound stupid but here go`s ,i have just 12 small tropical fish ,how often and how much, do i feed them ,silly question i know , but thats it (i don`nt know)

Usually its what the fish can eat in 3-5 minutes. You can feed them twice per day aswell. What fish are these and what size tank do you have?

It`s only a small starter tank, as for the fish (err)i don`nt know, i just asked the guy in the shop to give me enough fish for the size of the tank who will live together

well im sure you'll inundated by 50 people but I'll start it off... Don't ever tell the person at the store to "just give me whatever will go together." depending on what store it's at, they might not even know themselves, or even if they do know, they might not care enough to take the time. Sorry to preach there, but when you go shopping for fish, fish food or fish equiptment, always make sure you know what your looking for and they have something your not sure about, there is no reason why you should make an impulse buy. There is tons of info out there, especially here on TFF so please ask questions before impulses take over!! :good:

For the question, yes, you should feed the fish once or twice a day with small amounts of food that consume in the time specified above. try to vary the diet too if it is within your means as while a common flake food is good all around nutrition, its nice for the fish to get a varied diet to peak their interest at meal time and to break up the dulldrum of swimming around in a circle all day... haha
