I have 2 platties and 2 mollies in a tank. I feed them and make sure that they eat it all and if they do, I give them more if they seem like they want it. I've never seen fish eat so darned much! My question is this.....

I've heard that some fish will overeat til the point of dying? I don't know if this is true, but my roomate is concerned they are not getting enough to eat. I feed them 3 times a day when I'm home and twice a day on the days i'm at work. There is not food visible on the bottom of the tank. I just don't want to over feed them.

Oh, yeah, BTW, I think both females are pregnant :D

A good rule of thumb is to take a look at how much you would want to feed them and cut that in half and that's probably a better amount to feed. I'm sure you're feeding them plenty especially if you're feeding 2-3 times a day.

After several accidents of overfeeding, I feed my fish three times a week- Monday, Wednesday and Friday. It may sound like they aren't eating a lot, but I haven't lost a single fish from overfeeding since this certain meal time. They eat a good meal because I give them frozen food, which I was told, is more healthier.

When I was a n00b to fish I add a few accidents with feeding. I think 3 times a day for full grown adult platties and mollies is too much. I now feed my fish once a day and fast for one day a week.
