Feed Oscar (and Other Nw's) Banana?

I read that oscars love bananas. Is this alright to feed them (opened of course)? I mean some bananas must fall from trees into thier waters right?

well my oscar would propably eat a pineapple if it feel in, I cant imagine it would do them any harm.... Its fruit after all not laughing cow cheese.

This, I can (unfortunately) agree wholeheartedly on. Although I"ve never seen an oscar given banana (and don't know if it would be good or bad seeing as they're mostly carnivores) the giant gourami that's the mascot of the fish store where I work gets banana as a very, VERY occasional treat. But because it makes her waste SO messy and nasty, she only gets it a day or two before her tank is slated for a water change anyhow. Banana results in the MESSIEST waste I've EVER seen from a fish.
