Far Cry - 11/10/09 - Nothing New

Found A Better Light unit in the Garage this afternoon while washing the Car.
Its a 9W Boyu, Looks laot Better than the Firefly.

Hmm, not sure I agree with the 'short body' bettas. But each to their own I guess, so long as the fish is healthy and well looked after.
He's certainly got an impressive tail! :)

I agree, and I am happy with my rather dumpy plakat, but what a beautiful tail and a fine color.

Goodness, you do tanks like I do. Ooooo, I found a better light in the garage. Oooooo, found an extra filter under my bed. Oooooo, there's some extra gravel lying around. Time for another tank!

Resourcefullness is always awesome.

Yep always have stuff lying around.
Kicked something under the desk earlier and released there was another Complete Azoo Kit there i had forgotten about.

I've always had awful trouble with algae in that type of tank. Although that's possibly to do with the blue-ness of the Reef Blue light. I kept getting annoyed by the dust and evaporation from the open top as well.

Really, I never had algae probs when I used the Reef Blue.

Evaporation is and Issue with these Tanks, But I do not Mind. It Will help that it is not going to be a heated tank.

Xmas Moss and Small Moss Balls Arrived this morning.
Just finished planting it up.

MOss Balls were taken apart to create a carpet of plants.

Awww. It's so cute and little! I like it. I have two of those filters, I like them a lot for small tanks. They do pretty well.

Good old hobs..
Looks cool, although how much of a patience have you got lol?I've seen a few moss tanks which take at least 3 months for it to start looking like a carpet...Although you've already done a pretty good job of placing it :good:
..How did you attach the mosses to the filter?I was thinking of the same thing on a few of my tanks, as I have a java moss plague.

I like to think I have the patience for plants to grow. But always like to use moss balls as they are so Versatile and give Instant Impact. It Helps that I have been using the same supplier of Moss Balls for 3 years now, and he always sends me very nice ones. He knows what I do with them so sends a mix of sizes that I can use.
Cannot Believe the amount that LFS' charge for what they call Moss Balls. What I pay for 5, they can charge for 1 in some places.

I might still use some HC but only a little, as my track record for leaving a scape alone is useless and I cannot help tinkering with it.

Ahh a Seasones trick of Mine. Just plonk it once some Filter floss and it hold very nicely. The Floss Also make a Great rooting bse for it. I use the same trick for making a Moss Wall, Soooo much easier than trying to use Mesh.

Ahh, cool I see.
They charge like £5 a moss ball around here , and they always have hints of yellow in them...Yours are all lush green :good:
I tried using filter floss for a moss carpet, but I didn't put much moss on it at the time so the filter floss wasn't covered much.I ended up trying to thin the filter floss out, as the back part of it was uneeded, but in the end pulled the whole thing apart
Guess I'll have to give it another go!

Yeah Dunno who they use in LFS'. I have always used Mosymo on ebay, So much cheaper and next day delivery always, only ordered the moss balls last night and they were here with the 10am post.
It Might be better if you use the sheets of it. Another trick you can use is Using the LArge Green Scouring Sheets. This was if you don't have allot of then the green will blend in with the pads and looks of. Again works great for Moss Walls and also as added filtration.

Yeah righ, and Pay LFS Prices  . I get mine from Ebay or sometimes you can find these at the Saturday Car boot at the AT7 Centre or the Mercia on a Sunday :shifty: . You can sometimes if lucky find people selling the 2G complete Azoo tanks for under a tenner and not the crazy price in Cov Aquatics(£40)

I got 2 8 gallon tanks for £2 and my 55gal for a tenner at a carboot last year.
'boots ftw lol.
