I have a Fluval roma 125 litre tank. I have been looking at getting an ex1200 to replace the interior filter but really want the filter hidden away from view. I believe the ex1200 does not fit inside the cabinet, so:

Is the ex700 good enough for my 125 litre tank or is there an equivelant to the ex1200 which is quiet and will fit in the cabinet??

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Ex700 should still turn the tank over 4 times so will be fine ofc the 1200 will be so much better

the new fluval 306 might do the job, they are smaller than the tetratecs, but that said, im sure the ex700 is capable.

305/6 will fit, as will the 700. Maybe the 1200 would fit through the back of the cabinet. :/

I really want the ex 1200, mainly because I plan to upgrade to a bigger tank next year and I will be able to use the ex 1200 on that one. Hmmmmm, I am stuck :(

if you have the space, go for the 1200. but the 700 will do a good job.

This has my vote. We have 3 of these. Never a problem.Crystal clear water.

Over-filtration is always better than under filtration.

In relative terms, flow rate & running costs, this beats some that are supposedly marked higher L/HR.

When the ex1200, first came out, they were cheaper, being an untested brand(which is when we first got them - fluval&eheim too pricey to run then and now), and now ex1200 cost x3, due to their popularity. Next year they may cost even more due to higher import fees & scarcity from Germany.

We don't bother putting them inside the cabinet(ease of access&can see at all times if theres a problem), sometimes practicality overrules aesthetics.
