I have a male lyretail molly who was in a fight with my other male molly, I guess his slime coat was compromised because he got a fungal infection. I treated it and he looked fine until a few days ago, he developed early signs of fin rot and the fungus appeared to have returned, it started to crop up on his one side, and he had trouble swimming straight.

I didn't know what to do or how to treat him for all his problems. He was still lively and it was hard to catch him...

I have clove oil and I've just put it in the little cup he's in and he's starting to go under.... I just don't know if I can bring myself to OD him or add any vodka :(

I feel like I can still save him....

I was wondering if anyone thought I could still save him...? I really don't have the heart to kill him, and I'll feel terrible if it turns out I could save him...

I've never used clove oil so I don't know if there's any coming back once you start. If he can come back, I would try to save him.

Put it in freshwater and hopefully it won't be too far asleep.

I didn't end up adding anything else, I put him in my fry tank (It was empty, cycling) and he woke up. I'll use the fry tank as my hospital, even though it's only a 2.5 gal.

So you put him in clove oil although he was difficult to cactch, and then took him out?

I can sympathise with your situation Krysta. Whenever I see a fish in distress, I always have an element of doubt before I condemn it to the clove oil. After keeping fish for a few years, I can honestly say I've only done this once though. I always get my wife to do it.
