I've ordered some paraguard and some prime while I was at it. The Esha didn't work on the cory the first time so it's not gonna work if I try again. time to try something new.
As for the harley's, I guess I've got to see if another gets affected. So far none of my other fish seem to be affected by this, it's just the harley's. It makes me think it's stress related

Hi bettafish - I did ask in another thread what it was they had and I think that was what I was told. Do you know if the Esha 2000 will treat it? I don't want to lose any more
Hi, sorry I don't know what could treat it from what I read it just needs to run it's course

You're no doubt right.  Stress as we know can weaken the immune systems of fish so they're more susceptible to disease.

well we know where the stress is coming from - the darn angelfish. If I could turn back time I'd leave them in the shop. They may be beautiful but they are also a big problem when it comes to causing stress

If I could I'd re-home them for you (even temporarily).  I don't have room in my tanks for them though I'm afraid and I intend to be moving home myself in the next few months.

thanks Far_king ... I guess I've just got to suck it up really. I've messed up and I've gotta live with it

Hi Akasha,

I'm a big supporter of Esha products... It's weird it didn't work for you though, there is one thing that stops esha from working and that's doing a water change with water conditioner on the day or days before the treatment..... Therers an ingredient in the conditioners that binds the active Ingredients in exha products rendering it inactive so you have to do your water change 3 days before medicating then 3 days after.
Also you can combine Esha 2000 with Esha exit to get a broader spectrum of meds, they won't harm anything in the tank including shrimps (I know you're not a lover of shrimp) and snails, I've even used it with the more sensitive fish like loaches and Corys. Then after there's a vitamin supplement that you can give to the fish....

Essays exit is more for parasites, white spot, velvet etc but I've found it really effective when used with 2000.
Esha... Not essays, sorry the iPad is not cooperating with me today!!

I love angelfish but I stopped keeping them for that reason. Even when I had angels that weren't all that aggressive there's just something intimidating to the other, smaller fish, about a deep keeled species.

So ideally a species only tank?  Perhaps with some larger cats or plecos only?

Personal preference of course but yes, I like them with their own kind and bottom dwellers. I've done them in mixed tanks a few times and everyone is just happier when they aren't around.

This is exactly what I'm finding. Given the chance to start over I'd keep the angels but only with my BN and my palmeri tetra's. The tetra's are semi-aggressive themselves and so the angels behaviour doesn't affect them at all.

The rest of my fish would be happier if they wern't around.

Thank you Nic, this may be why it didn't work. I think I added it right after a water change if I remember rightly. I'd definitely keep that in mind.

At the moment I'm waiting to see if any other fish become affected by what ever these cysts things are. At the moment they all seem okay but I have just seen a cory flicking in the sand. It might be nothing but I'm keeping watch all the same.

My curvicep dwarf cichlid isn't a happy boy. He's now a candidate for Hexamita. I've not been able to tempt him to eat anything and he's just hiding out when the lights are on. If I could catch him I'd remove him and treat him with anti-biotics seperately but even if I got him well he'd still have to go back into the main tank at some point. For now I'm got no other choice than to let nature decide his fate

Oh yeah, emperors don't care about anyone but themselves. Ha! Aptly named.
