loking for possible fish to put in it preferrably one big nice looking fish, not a school or anything, i definetly dont want to go saltwater, but does anybody know if puffer fish can live in freshwater?

anyways, i only have walmart to get fish, the ten gallon has a heater, it is not planted but has a ton of ornaments, and a very good filter and parameters are cycled and good, so im just waiting for an idea of what to put in it. i tried betta in it but the kept dying so not betta, preferrably something that can stand a bit lower temps maybe.... just thinking aloud

any suggestions would be nice!

You could have a Dwarf Puffer.

They need a sand substrate, plants, live food (snails) and frozen food (bloodworms). They need places to hide and they are very intelligent.
Research them heaps. :)

Don't they need to be kept in the same temperature range as bettas though? D:

Yes, they do :)
The OP stated that they had a heater, hence my recommendation :)

I know but the "preferrably something that can stand a bit lower temps maybe" and I suppose it just worried me a little. :)  As long as the OP knows what it needs, which I'm sure they'll do the appropriate research.

I can't really think of anything that wouldn't appreciate a heater, unfortunately. But some more small fish suggestions:

Celestial Pearl Danios
Mosquito Rasbora..

Aand I just remembered you're limited to wal-mart D: I'm stumped. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Do you know the reason for your bettas death? If theirs a sickness in your tank i would refrain from getting another fish until you've cleaned it out, But if you did already what is is your ph level and hardness?Seems the members here are stumped on walmarts fish selection so maybe we could suggest you fish and you could see if walmart has it?

ok so i will definetly take fish suggestions and see if walmart has them. i did clean out my tank thouroughly before i cycled it again, fishless. so i do have a working heater for it, but i did research dwarf puffers because i saw them at walmart and it turns out that they do need live plants and sand and i was kind of hoping to use most of my stuff for it i have already it has the standard colored gravel, (i boiled dont worry) and some caves, a sunken ship, and a fake plant or two.

the heater i have is working just fine right now, i just noticed it tends to keep the temp to about 75 degrees f during the night and i didnt want any problems with that.

suggest any kinds of fish, i go to a bigger city on october 17 for a doctors appointment and they have petco, petsmart and some other fish stores along those lines.
