Emergency..oscar Is Not Doing Well.....anyone Had This Problem?

Ok My mom called back and tested the water and its still good. The water look cleared. Oscara is doing good and moving about. 
I will test the water this afternoon and go from there. any advise, please!

Let us know what you get for ammonia AND nitrite once you've been able to test. 
 
It would be good to move some of your media into your mom's filter but remember not to remove more than 1/3 of the media from your filter or it may cause your tank to have problems.

Hi, I did that last night and its such a head aches. I could not get it to download from my phone. ugh.....

Well then you've taken 50% of your media and this may cause problems with your tank. You can cut the sponge so that you only take part of it.

Take a good read of this to help you understand what's happening to your Mums tank. There's a lot of water changes ahead of you so be prepared - I agree with flutter when she says the filtration is not adequate and you will need a much bigger filter to deal with the Ammonia produced by the Oscar. You will end up with an almost exact problem in future if this is not dealt with also.

Well she has two filters system going and now her tank ammonia is 0.50 and will need a water change. Also, her fins still have cloudy whites on her front dorsal fins. Fungus?   My mother said she feels like she cant take care of her as she needs constant cares. It will be nice for someone who have lots of knowledge caring for the oscar and be adopted into a new home. 
 
What can I do?
 
Can I exchange fish?   Meaning bring my koi/goldfish to moms tank and bring Oscara home with me to be supervised with cares until she gets well?  All we need to do is switch the fish. What are the risk of these tanks? mine and her tank?
What are the procedures? Of course we cannot use the water to infect these fish. What about taking the oscars filters and the oscar into the tank i have. My koi/goldfish already had water change as its been a week. Every Friday is water change in my home. Can my fish go into my moms tank after the water change and use my filters into her tank?

koi cant be in anyhting less than 75 gallons although im sure thats too small also.

yes I understand.......but they will need to be re home as the kois get very big. They were given to me for free as the guy didn't want anything to do with them. Not a fish person.

OK IM BACK........its been a while.....Oscara was doing great...until.....then the other day my mother told me she was dying. ugh.....about to pull my hair out. Not sure what my mother is doing to the fish. Also, she lost two beautiful cichlids. omg....i was so disappointed with her. She did something wrong. She lost one of the ammonia test bottle. I had to take a sample and rush home and came to find out its extremely toxic to Oscara closet to blue(aqua greenish). I rushed to mom's place and told her we need to change the water asap. I took her out of the tank and put her in fresh water while draining it. She was stressed out and tired. After doing all this....i stayed and watched her for an hour. she came out just fine and happy. Thanking me for saving her. The problem is feeding her too much....3 times a day is a lot. 
 
The cichlids... i have no idea but she think she killed them with quick cure by accident. The longfin is the only one left in the tank. This is sad. My mom will not be getting any more until she return this summer where i can keep an eye on her and the fish. I may be taking Oscara since no one is interested in her. I am hoping to sell the koi and goldfish so i can use the tank for oscara. any suggestion how to advertise the fish? Thanks

Hello everyone,
 
I couldnt remember my pwd and finally got it. I have been away for weeks. I just wanted to let everyone know that my mother passed away October 20 unexpectedly. I got rid of the other cold water fish....koi, goldfish and the oranda.

 

  Mom wanted me to take her before anything happens to her. I took her home with me and Ocara is doing great. I am just dragging my feet and missing my mother terribly.
