Egg yolk for newborn fry

Is it possible to feed that in place of BBS? I could buy bbs, prepare it and all but i was wondering if egg yolk would work on betta frys.

Egg yolk would only work for the first week or so, and then you'd really need to switch to BBS. Actually, I think you'll find that you'll prefer BBS. Egg yolk and items made from egg yolk (yes, I've tried them) tend to foul the water very quickly, make it cloudy, and stink.

i used egg yolk for my first spawn and they lived but wow my water quality droped fast and hard

Ah yeah the side affect of it. Well I hope I have infusoria...the water is cloudy, green (durrr cause the lettuce) but i have no clue if there's infusoria in there

If I may make a suggestion....

Go to the fish store (or even call a bunch of them) and ask them if they have frozen rotifers. I've successfully raised two spawns on them. They are one of the components of rotifers, and, this way, you actually get to make sure you have some in the water!

Rotifers eh? Alright I'll beg my sis to drive me (nearest lfs is only less than a mile but eh) on thursday and see if they have any. They usually have live, frozen, and dried fish food so I'm 80% sure they should have something that I need.

I used hard boil egg yolk for the first week. Don't put too much and just a tiny bit for the whole batch!
