Echinodorus Tank (The End)

You are putting some plants that get really big into what looks like a tank that is too small. I tried several swords in my high tech 50 gal before I gave up. I could not keep them contained and after 3 months or so for any of them that were not dwarf varieties. They had to be given away to folks with 6 foot tanks. I think you will have a real jungle in the end and I wish you luck pulling this off. I have a lot of respect for Tropica though and if they say you can pull it off, I would be inclined to accept that.

cheers TTA, i exept that this may all end up as a massive jungle, as said it's not an aquascape. More of an experiment. I hope i can make it look like some kind of scape when all said and done lol. The E Rubin isn't actually visible in that pic, i have placed it at the back. I may remove one of the larger/mid ground swords, either the Queen or the Rubin.

and we'll have the car bonnet James lol!

Got a couple of shots of the new residents, the Marbles were added on Friday (and touch wood, i haven't lost one yet).

and a new one for me, i got a pair of apistogramma cacatuoides double red, a very interesting fish. I have moved most of my Cherries into my nano as he started on them as soon as i put them in. I shall be off to get some more amanos over the weekend as they seem to leave them alone.

If you feel up to trying the experiment again, there are a lot of dwarf Echinodorus species that would be interesting. :) Like to see this develop though, even if the plants get too big.

That would be interesting llj...well it's been planted a week now and i'm getting new leaves on most of the swords, the Red Devil leaves are really eye catching, hopefully all the leaves will stay this colour.

so far so good, added more Purigen today, also took out an old mature sponge and added some Seachem Matrix after reading an article George Falmer put on FB

I love how green your plants always look Ian, also noticed you have gone with stones/rocks over bogwood this time, I like the dragon stone, saw some red dragon stone in my lfs lately which looks almost artificial

And btw the amanos are planning, but im not sure what for  be afraid...

Thank you KkAaNnEe, and yes i didn't want to use wood in this tank, as i didn't want the hardscape to take the view away from the tank. I also like dragon stone, the red stuff does loose it's redness, it's well worth getting some.

ps, re the amanos...i'm not joking when i say that on a full moon Amanos will often have a get together! lol

Ooooo, I like the apisto, so purty.

they are very colourful, they like the ladies though, you have to watch him!

I didn't realise George had changed his name Ian :fun: Falmer are something out of, oh nevermind....

You mention the Amano full moon meeting. I'm assuming it is a full moon in reality, and this has happened to you before, no? If so, i must observe mine....

yeah it was just some random bloke called George who advised me on it!lol

and yes it is a full moon in real life, and yes it really has happened to me before a couple of times with the Amanos. I have read somewhere else of them doing it in other tanks.

You werent referring to George Farmer, it was indeed George Falmer. Looked like a tiny typo, maybe not then :p

I really am going to keep an eye on mine now, i'm intrigued!

Yeah i made a a topic about mine aswell last year, its veru strange indeed

The Amanos are having a meeting to discuss joining my shrimp army ;) looking crisp Ian, I'm nicking your camera, would love to get sone pro shots of my new scape nowits filling in.

It just seems to be the Amanos Lu, and KkAaNnEe, i think it might have been your topic that we put pics up in last year wasn't it?

Steve treat yourself to a new cam mate, it'll last you forever.
