My ebay account was hacked this morning and someone bid on behalf of me on an £8750 boat. Contacted the seller and ebay about it but I am really upset and don't trust ebay anymore :(
Anyone had similar experience? Please share.

ebay is really secure and wont charge you for that and any decent seller would just put the item back up and let you off these thing can happen and as long as there are tw*ts in this world it always will happen sorry about you being hacked but it is a risk you take

Well all they need to do is look at my bidding history and see that I'm only interested in Radley bags! I just about passed out when I saw I had that to pay for! I really don't want my good reputation as a buyer to be ruined. Will have to wait and see. :(

Well the latest is the seller wants me to pay his/her fees for listing the item!!!!! As I did not physically bid on this item there is no way I'm paying for anything. Fair enough if I did and pulled out. But no way! Not a hope in hell!!!!! So frustrating :shout:

Well to be honest I dont understand who's supposed to pay. My friend says if he wants to sell again he will not have to pay a fee. But if its a scam then the refund for fees is probably what they want.

from what you said
Well all they need to do is look at my bidding history and see that I'm only interested in Radley bags
they will be able to tell that the boat is abnormal behavior plus they should be able to tell where your account was signed into last via the ip address

yes, its sad somone would find that ammuseing, but w/e the case the seller will just sell to the bidder before you, or re-stock the auction, there is no way he can make u buy it, or fault you.

Well I misunderstood and he explained that we will both not be paying anything if we mutually withdraw the sale. So thats fine. My dad reckons this may have been caused by me using a bit torrent to download music for free :/ or a site i was on at the time may have had soemthing or other to track my pass words :S
As for the seller he seems genuine enough as he has sold lots of items and his boat is now back on sale. But my dad did mention he could be in on the scam. You just don't know! So I guess I'll be more careful in the future ????

Im not an expert but you could have a keylogger which means its a program you have accidentially opened that records whatever you type and sends it to someone.

Perhaps, dads had a look at computer and he says everything seems to be running ok. Changed all my passwords on computer downstairs. Gonna delete my cookies etc everytime I turn off computer.

if you use firefox its harder for keyloggers and such to work as most of them are designed for ie however before turning off press ctrl + shift + delete and it will delete personal data
