All my fish are dying and I can't tell whats wrong. all my water levels seem ok PH was a little up but I think I've sorted it now. They all started with white spot and I started treatment now it looks like they have fin rot white stop and loads of fluff on them and I fear for all there little lives what else can I do apart from use treatment on them?

I do not know a thing about ponds but raising the temp. of the tank adding salt are good for starters. Some kind of treatment will be needed too, maybe Melafix. Just begin treatment ASAP and hope for the best. I'm really sorry about your fish and good luck!

For live bearers like Platys, I'm pretty sure you use the usual 1 tablespoon per 5 US gallons. I would do this whether or not there is illness as live bearers like it slightly salty. Be sure to use aqaurium salt and not any other kind. You can buy the salt at your LFS.

I would also raise the temp of your tank to maybe 83-85 F or so for a little while, then lower it back down to 80 F or to whatver you have it on now.

You can buy meds like Melafix at your LFS and all you have to do is follow the directions on the back. I have had a good deal of luck with Melafix for various illnesses but you can go to the store and read the backs of all the different meds and guess which one might be right for you. I have found that its different strokes for different folks and that just because one thing workls for one person, it doesn't mean it will work for another. Do a little research at the store, purchase what YOU think will do the best and go with it. I wish I could give you the perfect solution but I have come to the determination that there isn't.

Good luck and keep me posted!

Thanks I'll go see if we have some only problem is my local is bout 10 to 15 mile away. They only seemed to be getting worse so I decided it must be something in the water that isn't bein detected since everything is ok so i've put them all in there own containers of fresh water with a little dab of safe guard to try and get the water for each as good as possible. the conditions are perfect for them now but they all seem to be perkin up abit and lookin better now.

I've put them next to a lamp to keep them warm lol its a right rush job but they seem better already... Only thing i can think of that might have done this since everything seems fine is I added a new rock i found on the beach about a week ago but I boiled it and everything to try and get rid of anything that might be harmfull to them on it.

I have to worst luck with things I put in my tank, boiling or not. That really could be all it is....

I'm sure everything will be okay...I'm really sorry for your losses though.

Throw the rock away, as it could be polluted with anything. Only buy rock from an aquatic retail store.

How are all your fish?
How old is your tank? as u maybe experiencing cycing process, where you get high levels of ammonia and nitrite.
Do u have any testing kits?

yeah all the tests are fine my 3 remaining fish seem to be getting better there still not in the tank tho im gunna put em back in b4 i go to bed n see what there like in the morn. wish me luck.

Oh and its a few month old it was fine never lost a fish... well a shrimp but he killed himself found him in the middle of me room. till I got white spot n then about 13 wifh died.

Turning the temp way up helps hill ick. It cant handle the temp it kills it.try some sald and crank your temp way up and that should help. good luck

I was having trouble with white spot and ?fin rot but i couldn't add salt as there is a loach in the tank. I raised the temp and used Protozin and also melafix. This treatment was started 6 days ago and i could see an improvement in 2 days.
Sorry to hear about your losses :-(

Lynn

Turn it to the high 80's, ick cant candle the heat.Imo, you should do a massive water change after the problem is corrected.Do you use feeders for your fish? if so that may be the source for your ich. Some lfs have really dirty feeder tanks. Do you have a hospital tank?
