My basic situation-
15g tank spare for spawning only (and growout too)
20g for some adults
Other tanks available- not many
Hard Water

Anyway, anything that fits the situation? The fry I'll probably sell eventually. As for the hard water, I'll either use peat of a water softener pillow. So, first I need a What. Then we'll work on other things.

Feeshy have you read DDs article? most of the info applies to the better part of the dwarf cichlid group as a whole.

Yes, I've read it. For now this is to see exactly what I should breed, then once I've decided, anything specific people have found out that helps get a better spawn.

Hi OohFeeshy,

IMO I would probably go for either cacatuoides or borellii with the water you have. But if you are willing to push the boat out and get an RO unit the list of fish are endless and they are come down in price a 50 gallon unit will only set you back about £80 and is well worth it.

There is a small but dedicated group of Dwarf Cichlid Breeders and keepers in the UK who have just started up a new forum at
UK Dwarf Cichlid Forum

Though the membership is small most of the memebers will have some fish avalible and will be able to give advice on there breeding and get hold of equipment and food at good prices. Like brine shrimp egg etc.

Regards,

Peter.
