Well... i bought my balloon molllie on sunday and well... yesterday i found that she has dropsy // before she had fungus on her eyes and i was trearting it and now this.

is this contagious! shes not dead.. shes swimmin but all her skin looks furry kinda and some scales have come away to show red patches... what should i do!!!!

Do her sclaes stick out like a pinecomb, try a shelled pea, also I would put her in a salt bath, and add some salt to the tank.

i can do a salt bath but i cant add saalt to the tank cos of my cories... oh wait... you dont mean salt salt you mean aquarium salt? i dont have ne... it is ;like a pinecone... wat you mean mean about a pea shell>?

DO NOT ADD SALT TO UR TANK WITH CORIES IN!

if you have to give it a slat bath use a quarinte tank or somthin!

as for the shelled peas~? ? uh?

If the scales are sticking out like a pinecomb, sad to say it's the last stage of the desease and the fish will die, sorry.

ok em... wat kinda salt... usual salt? cos i havent any aquarium stuff.... i have her in oneof those birthing boxes with slits in the bottom

EDIT:shes going to die!¬!!!!!! oh no :-( :byebye: she cant shes fine... shes swmmin

I bought aquarium salt, but I now use household salt and had no trouble with it even on neon tetra's.

yeah maybe so for the molly, but what would be the point of killing off her cories by adding salt?

i know its a debated subject which has gotten nowhere
some say it dosnt kill others say it will..... its at the owners risk, but i wouldnt wanna risk my fish on this.

im sorry vix, but normaly the fish dies.. have u rang around for any remedies?

Cories can tolerate abit of salt in the tank, it boils down to losing one fish or more..

i would prefer to lose the one fish than more...

are u 100% certain a cory (ie scaleless fish) can tolerate salt?
and for that matter, iv always been told not to use normal 'table top' salt in my tanks... do u have proof to back it up that it can be used??

If you catch dropsy in the early stages you stand a chance, but you have to use antibiotics, dropsy is organ failure so you can't reverse back once the scales stick out.
