when i come in at night and turn my tank light on
they all jsust seem to sit there and not move even when
iv feed them they just ignore the food

what could be causing this
 
is the tank light of all day, i've found my fish do this if the lights have been of for a long time, but mines usually over the w/end if we are away :D

i could be wrong but maybe they need the light on a bit longer. pls say some 1 if i'm wrong lol. can you not get a timer switch for it ???? i know thats wot i'm gona have to do :D
 
yeah think they are thats why i need to timer switches myself as we go away most w/ends. i have noticed that my neons & rummy nose tetras are always very dull when i get back :S :D

Yes i agree as when I first got my tank, light was on bout 12hrs a day an I was told to only have light on bout 8-10 hrs a day apart frm the odd occasion when you forget.
 
i have my licghts on a timer. come on at 8am for 4 hours then off for 2 then back on for another 4 hours. that what i was advised in a book and in the shop!
