Don't you just love weird fish?

SirMinion, that fish has to be in the FOTM contest.

I nom the pic of your choice.

thats a cute fish, lol. I love the look on its face. Never seen one like that before.

Thanks for the Noms guys.. Now to answer some of the questions...

It's a tropical freshwater/mild brackish fish, a member of the goby family

Our three are all about six inches long, but they can get to about 15 inches, they don't get much bulkier, just longer.

Despite the huge mouth, it's a filter feeder, the largest thing it will eat is daphnia or cyclops. The Baensch Aquarium Atlas says it will eat anything it can draw in...except fish!

It's very peaceful, never bothers the other fish.

Those eyes are real! I haven't edited them in photoshop!.. apparently, they're nearly blind.

He/She is A Lovely Fish.

Oh, believe me they do get bulkier - hereis a pic of mine. He's about a year old, maybe slightly more, 10" long and as bulky as 2 fingers together. Feeding them is quite difficult coz unless the food is literally dropped in front of their mouths, they can't find it. As Sirminion says, they are nearly blind and find their food by smell. They make a lovely addition to any community tank that is large enough to house them.

Hey Gadazobe, Yours is so much fatter than mine!

what do you feed him?

Mine sucks on agae wafers, sinking tablets and gulps in clouds of daphnia.

/edit/ I've just tried them on frozen bloodworm.. Oh yes, that was a definate hit with them! Everyone loves bloodworm!

I LOVE dragon gobies. I had a 8'' one for awaile named Jerry. I really don't know if it was male or female but that's what I called him. He was such an amazing fish. He died when I moved him to a bigger tank. I've been searching for another one but they are hard to find. I got him at petsmart for $4.49. He was a limited time fish and they don't have them now. Poor Jerry. They get to be 2 feet long I heard they they are brackish water. They can see out of their eyes but it is very limited. They mostly use their smell. My Jerry had this long cave tunnel that he claimed as his own. He would spend half the day in it and they rest slithering around in the sand. He really liked the sand alot. I think it was easier on his belly and fun for him to dig in. This is Jerry's ''head shot''

I must get a dragon goby!

Anyone have any info on compatibility?? i.e what will they live with
They keep thenselves to themselves, you can keep them with anything that won't attack them.

They won't attack anything, even fry.

His moma loves him .

SirMinion, what type of carfish is that in your signature? It looks like a stone catfish with a really long tail.

>>> carfish is that in your signature

Looks like a Bunocephalus species, possibly B. amazonicus or more probably B. coracoideus, it is the commonest one imported. There are 4-5 species that look pretty similar.
