doing some before time research.

nice link andy, some useful bits on there.

cheers.

oh yeh found out today i can get live rock through our gravel supplier :) will have to have a looky at the prices.

oh and for me to run a 400w light unit 12hours each for a 30 day months it's going to be between £10-£15. so £40-£60 extra a quarter  thats a hell of alot more!!

right after a few more sums later i must of mis calculated, the cost a 400W per quarter would be about £35. which ontop of my current bill is still a bit much really.

If i went back down to the 2ft cube idea what lighting would i beable to use on there? 1 250MH?

Oh and i got the "natural Reef Aquaruims" book through the day i got it i had kind of lost heart in going marine due to cost though! so will have to have a read on it soon.

maybe i could go a bit wider to get the extra surface area back...

Most people don't run metal halides for a full 12 hours. You run supplemental Actinic lights for 12-13 hours, and turn on the bright MH lights for maybe 6-8 hours a day.

ah ha, that works out alot better, £20 for a quarter for the 400w.

for arguements sake though what could i use a 2' cube?

also are there any major disadvantages stocking wise (of fish) if i made the tank shorter?
