I've made a cement background for a 12 gallon cichlid tank before, and it took about 3 weeks to cure, so im wondering if LR for sw has to be cured? For my FW, i needed to cure it in SW, so does some LR need to be cured if it's DIY? I know i have to wait for the cycle again, but if i'm gonna need to do the daily water changes to cure it, i wont make my own.

Thanks

you need to allow the cement to cure by soaking the rock in freshwater in some type of plastic curing tub with daily 100% water changes until the PH reading is safe. if you dont, the new cement will raise the ph in your tank to dangerous levels. this curing process usually takes a few weeks of daily water changes (in the curing tub). if the rock is small enough the best and easiest way to do this is drop the rock in the holding tank on your toilet so every flush you make is a water change.
