keep some cheese in your pocket. She'll never leave your side.

Combine this with some scheduled training after school, perhaps a mini session before. Dogs don't feel love in the way humans do, but they do relate very much to a pecking order. In the typical household the father/mother are at the top of this order, with a properly trained dog the dog is at the bottom of this order. This doesn't mean the dog perceives you as lower, if you are above them in this order that's all that matters to them. Dogs are not very deep thinkers, and very much live in the moment.

Training, which is earning whatever treat you may give them in most cases, means you are controlling resources, an important factor in this pecking order. Food, access, affection are all resources, and can be used in training. The interactions with training translates to a dog that relates to people more closely. Dogs get into a routine, and within a short amount of time your dog will look forward to the regularly scheduled training sessions.

See!!... I'd like to be a pet in the Tolak Woodhouse home... I can get used to the rolled up newspaper  ... You're in the printing business Tolak... Consider a publication on animal psychology.... It'll sell like hotcakes... I fully agree with your analysis... Good answer.

well said! lol she gets training but when im not home.shes trained to sit when my moms fiance walks her and when he stops he says back and she walks backward and he says sit and she sits..is she harder to train when shes younger??

my dog didnt learn anything for the first few months, eventually it learnt it's name. It's now a year and a month or so and can do sit, stay, paw and the most important one Bed!
