Do you give your fish names?

All of my fish (bettas, chinese algae eaters, goldfish) and my snails have names ^^ They're just as much pets as my other animals, so why not name them? You wouldn't have a bird, rabbit, or dog without a name, no?

Mine are as follows:

Tiny Tim - betta
Pulpul - betta

Reebum - chinese algae eater
Bronwin - Goldfish (being euthanized as we speak, I'm afriad... )

I had a breeding pair of cichlasome managuense. The male was one of my favorite fish. Always friendly and would even take food out of my hand. Well they spawned, and had free swimming fry in the tank. I was doing my usual maintenance on the tanks, and saw something on the edge of the tank. The tank was on the bottom of the rack, so I knelt down to see what it was. Took the glass top of the tank off and looked at was stuck on the tank. Well, the male managuense came up and took a bite out of my chin, scared the living hell out of me. I jumped up, hit the back of my head on the rack. Talk about making up some new swear words. I guess the worst part about the whole thing was when the wife came in to see what happened. When I told her, she must have laugh for over an hour. As I matter of fact when ever it's brought up she just starts her damn laughing all over again. Well thats the only fish I ever gave a few names to. But I can't repeat the name on here what I called him.

Heh...we name every single one of our fish. We keep a running log too. Every fish we've ever owned, deceased or living, has had a name. That might not seem too weird, except that we have a school of ten neons. Yep, every single one of them has a name. About half of them, I can tell apart, based on size, behavior. Sable has a pale patch in her red stripe, so I can always pick her out. We don't really know if we have the genders right, but we don't usually worry too much about that with the neons. Even the oto's have their own names. Heh...guess I'm just weird to name ALL of my fish.

Well, I take that back. I have three guppy fry that don't have names. Baby fish are so fragile that I tend to not name them until they're full grown. Not to mention, they don't have the strongest personalities until they're grown either.

Some. I've named my bettas, ans I've nicknamed two of my cories (although they've stopped doing what I named them fr so I've got rid of the names.

RW, well kinda actually. I once had a kitten I just could not name and after about 6 weeks of calling "here kitty kitty", he just became Katzi - sort of a German slang word for "little cat" Sorry, I'm really not the best when it comes with naming things and that's just the way it is.
Then with my Dobermann I didn't have a clue either, and the first part of her registered name was "Zita", so Zita it was !

with bettas and single fish most people would name them, however if you have 10 tetras that look the same or 5 cherry shrimp its a bit diffrent. if you had a huge 1000 galon tank full with fish would you name them all?

I've named all mine, as well as my ADF's, snails and ghost shrimp. Even the zebra danios, and yes, I can tell them apart. See profile if you're interested.

When I first got my fish I watched them all day, could name all of them and took lots of time naming them..........Now I'm lucky if I can remember to feed them

I sure would. They get their names as we get them, and considering I would not stock a 1000 gallon tank all at once, I'd have time to name them all. I'd have to write the names down to remember them all, but they'd all get names. I'm just weird that way.

Edmand Fitz(The biggest) (I have a model of the Edmand Fitzgearold on top of my tank)
Zoomba (The Darkest) (Somehow Brown and Zoomba Just seem to go together)
Bella Boo (The most intimadated) (She likes to hide. Your lucky if you see her one time a month)
Flame (The reddest) (He has the most color difference through his body)

Zebra Danios:
Loner (The smallest) (He likes to go oyut and look around; But doesnt like the other danios)
Sunseeker (The biggest danio)(He likes to boss others, even larger than him)
Jane (she likes to doge others around)

Tiger Barbs:
Phesic (the biggest fish thats not a gorumi)
Lily (Thinks she's bigger than she really is)

Phantoms:
Phantom (Is really small. He likes to hang around Phesic)

My swordtails & Mollies are named after the cast of The League of Gentlemen. eg. Pauline, Hilary Briss, Barbara, Uncle Harvey & Auntie Val & Tubbs & Edward.
Film is out on June 3rd, I cant wait. Best comedy series made for years.

They all lived through it. But I got some big treatment by my fish after that! They still love me
