Do You Eat Fish?

I try to eat fish at least twice a week for the health benefits. If I am being lazy that might just be a tinned salmon sandwich. :)

I heard something on the radio earlier about over fishing and that kind of thing. I was half asleep so don't recall great detail, but the guy was pretty much saying it's ok to eat the occasional cod or tuna, but just don't make them the only fish you eat... try to make at least half your fish meals one of the less common type.

I have rarely ventured beyond cod, haddock, tuna and salmon.

I had a skate wing once, but I had no idea how to cook all those years ago and it was not so nice.

I had eel in a pub once and was rather sick, but I think it was the sauce that did it. :-o

Tuna chunks in brine is as far as I go, it's got to be dolphin friendly of course! Then again... if I'm eating all the dolphin friendly tuna that means there must be very nasty tuna being unfriendly to dolphins out there still!

I eat fish in-front of my fish as a warning.

This is hilarious.

I don't eat fish, but it's not because I keep fish. I grew up in the desert where it was harder to get and my parents never made it, so I never developed a taste for it. :dunno:

My favourite is salmon, but I've also recently started eating another farmed fish, basa also known as river cobbler. Did you know that it's scientific name is Pangasius hypophthalamus, our old friend the irridescent shark?

lol, I recently ate Pangasius fillets ate friends house. All I can say is  :shout: . I don't know if it was the flavour that wasnt right, but I just thought it was gross. I don't like the idea of eating freshwater fish, the idea that these fish pass dirty muddy water through their bodies is just  And yes I know they wash the fillets before selling :/

I do but only haddock and salmon. Plus, I eat it in-front of my fish.

Cheers,

Was a big kerfuffle about Pangasius 'meat' (?) a few months back. This is all I can find.

Will probs back up your verdict though.

I won tickets to a VIP box for the Villa V Birmingham game and was given raw salmon as part of the meal.

I'm hooked.

I eat fish selectively. I am not only a fish keeper, I am a diving instructor and Marine conservationist therefore I eat fish provided I know the source is sustainable and the fish was killed quickly and effectively. If its not sustainable then when I take people diving we won't have anything to see therefore people won't be happy with me. I choose what is sustainable following environmental reports and my own experiences of what I see through diving.

Also as part of my job I take people to go sports fishing (both rod and spear) for large game (trevali, barraccuda, etc) I believe in catch and release or catch and eat. I don't let people catch and kill species that can't be eaten or catch take 5 minutes getting the camera out take a few pictures and throw the fish back in most likely dead after 10 minutes flopping around on the deck, which has got me in trouble with customers. If you want to take a photo whilst catch and release fishing on a boat that I am in charge of, Have the camera ready and waiting. Otherwise after 1 minute by my watch, I am detaching the hook and letting your prize winning fish swim away. I say this in the briefing every time yet people seem to have selective memory for such things.

I don't think I would have any problems with eating one of my own fish if I needed to get rid of it. Like if I couldn't find an alternative home and it was of a sufficient size and species that was edible. I haven't kept a fish that comes under those requirements yet perhaps I should get a peacock bass and start.

i like fish but i prefer "real meat" like steak . but when we went to the seychelles years ago we counted that we ate 24 different types of fish in 2 weeks! theese included monkfish , red snapper, zobfish, barbecued sailfish steaks ( to die for) , but i think by far the tastiest was a creole sailfish curry . that was unbelievable

Anyone ever eaten wolf fish?
To die for! Had it when I went out for a meal with my friend last weekend. Can't remember the restaurant name but the fish was gorg! I saw it on Heston's fishy feast and when I noticed it on the menu I was like "Gotta try it!"

Cheers,

Have you ever bought fish fillets from your local supermarket cooked them and found that it was flavorless, bland.....or it tasted like the slime off the skin of the fish real fishy. I found if you beat an egg and add 1 teaspoon of crushed garlic to it(fresh or from a jar) soak the fillets in it for an hour in the fridge. Coat the fillets in course breadcrumbs and pan fry in veg or olive oil and salt both sides as you cook it. Its really nice......

#40## right I eat fish, none of us mind that our predatory fish can eat other fish, so eating fish is no problem to me. it is quite natural, & doesn't mean that I don't love my fish.
I was brought up in a family who regularly caught their own fish (big family tradition) it was a main part of our diet & I was able to prepare & cook (mainly flat-fish, but other species as well)at an early age. I also was a very keen angler up until around age 25, I no longer do any fishing, but it doesn't stop me eating fish - highly nutritious, yum yum
