I just went into Fish Index and apparently they are VERY hard fish to keep... i know people that do nothing with there discus tank and they are fine (years old even)
So are they really that hard to keep?
Because i wanna get some for my g/f as she loves them to bits!

I am planning on getting 2. Will they go with 16 neons tetras, 3 clown loach and 2 L/N whiptal cats?

cardinals go the best with discus, and they look basicaly the same as neons but teyre way more expensive, im not sure that the discus would eat the neons though -_- they should be kept in groups of 6, in which they feel more comfortable in. what size tank are you planning on keeping them in? 55 gal or higher is the best for them

HTH

DD ;)

I had 18 neons today yesterday and the day b4. With the discus.
they dont seem hard to keep at all, they are quite happy.
thanks ne ways.

I would love to see a one of my discus try to fit a neon in his mouth....

An adult Discus could easily fit a neon inside its mouth and eat it. As for your Discus probably not because you probably have juvies.

Indeed i do.
On Sunday a couple of mates came over and went in my room, we were there for 5 mins. And since then my 2 discus constantly hide! I used to walk passed and they would follow me but now they swim off quite fast.
Whats stressing them? all was going well and now they are upset.
maybe because my catfish have a tiny bit of white spot?
The temp is 28 just how they like it.
anyone know?

ahhh of course my friend, everything seems well at first, check your params to make sure everythign is pervect for the discus, and also i would try to get rid of the white spot

well, remember, ich can come back ALOT quicker than you can react! :( i hope it doesnt in your case tho

Do you think that is the reason why my discus are always hiding now?
whenever i walk in there they panic and go nuts.

Check the water parameters because when my Discus go nuts like that there seems to always be high nitrates.

Your nitrates are WAY to high. I try to keep my nitrates between 1-5 but I also do 2 50% water changes a day.
