ok Ive been reading heaps and learning stuff and taking peoples advice but Im just getting myself confused I dont know whats what anymore.

Im going to my LFS on Saturday and I need to know which fish to take back before I introduce my discus.

I know the discus eat neons?
I know my seprae tetras are tail nippers?
I know that dicus dont like black widows?
I know that clown loaches eat the protective slime off discus?

so do I take ALL my fish back!? :dunno: These are the fish my LFS said I could have in with discus when I first set up the tank and they are the largest dicus suppliers in queensland so im so fricken confused!!!!!!! :-(

Im definatly taking back the seprae tetras and the black widows...but I love my clown loaches or are they a great threat to my discus?

Where did you get that info... clowns pose absolutely no threat to discus, I have kept them together myself and so does my LFS. The only thing that may suck the slime coat off are plecos.

Someone told me through a PM on these boards.....
So I didnt know if it was true or not, Im sure he is just trying to help...
But I thought they were fine as well thanks for that David I guess its just opinions...but I dont want to get rid of my loachies!

You should always take advice, especially from an internet message board, with a grain of salt...

How much are discus anyway and how do those other fish put up with the high temps of the tank?

clown loaches are fine with them, tetras are not my fav fish but i think neons can be kept together others i dunno and my pleco doesnt evn dare touching my discus..for some reason..

Neons cannot withstand the high temperatures that Discus require. You need to get some Cardinal or Rummynose tetras instead. I have both of those kinds living happily with my Discus.

tetras are fine minus neon theys will get eaten but watch out for the clown loaches they will eat the proitective coating off of the discus otherwise just dont keep discus

It's not just the neons that can't be kept with discus, it's a lot of tetras, as mentioned above, discus require higher temperatures and not all tetras are able to stand it.

I have never heard of a clown loach eating the protective slime coating of a discus, so don't get rid of your clowns

Tetras can be kept just fine with discus. I've kept neons, cardinals and glowlight tetras in with my discus for nearly a year now at a temp no lower than 82. I also have kuhlis in there and they do just fine. I wouldn't get rid of ANY of your fish you have now. It'll be just fine. ;)

I thought we went over this... clown loaches do NOT eat the slime coating off of discus. Please do not give out false information. If this is something you yourself have experienced, then that's something different.

They may looks fine on the surface but the high temperatures will increase their
Metabolism which in turn reduce the life span of the fish.

where clown loaches are partially nocturnal they gang up and eat the coating this is the same for red tailed black sharks and yes most tetras will cope with the discus's lving condition just adapt them slowly to it it will be fine i kept mine with a group of black widows and serpae's if anything the discus like the company as they use tetras as a look out for any signs of danger even with these tetras mine still breed. :p
