but from the pics lots of greenery too, a dark substarte and background if anything should show the colours off better.

I'm not an expert, these are my first discus, so I'll welcome any opinions from people with more experience.
To me they seem well settled in, they are eating well and swimming about, also coming up to me when I'm observing some part of the tank.
Maybe they still have to settle in properly and they're on their way, maybe they're a bit stressed because the pecking order isn't quite established and they are still bickering a bit.
Other users mentioned that it may take a couple of months for them to settle properly, and we're about halfway there.
As I said, I'm no expert, so I'm very much open to suggestions and opinions. As far as I'm aware I'm doing everything right.

i know picture never show a fishes true colour, or they dont for me...., butthey still look quite dark to me. after a month they should be settled and hierachy sorted.
what strain are they or were they sold as? turks? there are so many these days since keeping them ive lost track
google the strain and look at images of what comes up and compare. i know each fish is different in its own way but they just dont look coloured up at all to me. were they this colour in the breeders tank?

They are leopard snakeskins.
I have googled some images, and they do look a bit lighter on those, not much though...
Also the ones on google seem to have the red spots more apart showing more of the light background. Maybe the gaps will widen with age...
I've been trying to remember, but I can only remember the colour when he was netting and bagging them, and they would have been pretty scared at that time.
I did have a good look at the parents and they looked magnificent.
The hierarchy is pretty much sorted, it's just some bickering occasionally.
I guess I mostly notice it at feeding time where it's perfectly normal, and it stuck in my mind.

i almost said leopards or penangs of some kind... as i said its been a while since i had discus and there are so many new strains.
all you can do is keep an eye on them.it sounds like you have done everything right so far so fingers crossed they will see you good in return for your efforts.

I just did a water change, and I used a new water conditioner for the tap water I mix with the RO water.
The lights are off in the tank. I just switched the lights on to have a peek inside and they are WAY lighter than those pics I posted.
At the LFS they suggested this new water conditioner that also clears the water, and de-stresses the fish, brightens the colours, promotes breeding and lots of other blurb on the packet.
Does anyone know it? It's called Easy-Life Fluid Filter Medium.
I can't wait to see them tomorrow morning so I'll know if the stuff actually did the trick or if it was only the darkness in the tank.
Mind you, they didn't go any darker for the few minutes the lights were on.
