Hi im wanting to buy some discus in the future for my 4x2x2 im after about 6 and cant afford to buy them fully grown, if i buy them at 2.5inches and only do say 40% water change with r/o water weekly does anyone know if there is a good chance they will die?

i cant really do a higher water change that then unfortunetly.

They wouldn't die, but chances are they would get stunted and not grow properly. I would save your money and buy some fully grown ones this is most ideal. I know of a guy who is able to do weekly water changes, and his Discus are growing at pretty much an ideal rate, but he has a HUGE sump system, and he only feeds beef heart three times a day, feeding it spaced out as much as possible, it can be done but it is not the norm, and definitley not how I grow out my Discus.

Hi,

I only clean myn out 2-3 times a week depending, but i use twice the recommended filteration for the tank, and i also feed beefheart daily

Also a larger tank than is needed also helps stimulate growth i have a load that were around 2" when i got them two months ago, most getting on for 3" inch now some even bigger.

these are raised to sell on my website and they are currently advertised in the for sale section at very cheap as im getting rid of all stock for new stock if your in the uk take a look.

thanks.

Tank works out to about 120 gallons. Like I said, if you want to get away with a minimum amount of maintenance a group of 5 or 6 would be ideal.
