Beautiful pics of your fry there SD, all the fry should turn out combtails with none being solid veil or crowntail that is if the mother is a veiltail, do you have any recent pics of her? I bred a spadetail plus crowntail together with 25 surviving fry and all were combtail with varying degrees of webbing, yours look like they may resemble the mother more and will be blue/red which would be the dominant colour in this pairing although it would be great to see some the fathers colour!

I have no recent pics of the female. I have read that red is the dominant colour, but having said that you can see a shade of blue coming through in the fry. It would be great to see the males colouring in some of the fry even if it's thier body in a pineapple colour with the fins tinted in red and blue.

the holes are square, prob 3-4mm ish?

a guppy fry would fit through there

Thats quite large, but maybe in a couple of weeks that wont be a problem.

you can find craft mesh with smaller holes if you need them before the fish are in the range that Haych has.
the fry look terrific. good work!
cheers

Coming along slowly but they are growing and looking healthy nice pink bellies hehe

I see red in the one on the finage
The other black looks like this might be eaither blue or black later one for the body

doing very well

have you notice a difference feeding more and more water changes with them?

wow theyre quite big!

lively too

They are about 12/14mm now, well most are some are smaller. I think my pics, give a false impression of how big they realy are. Plus
with the upping on feeds and more frequent water changes (All Thanks to theshadowinc), especially on my 4 days off. they are starting too grow realy fast.

It's getting like UFC, but in a tank (UFT).

HeHe they love water changes and lots, actually when I breed mine cough cough I don't even cycle the tank :) because I change water so much there is no time for ammo to appear! This year is the first time I am cycling tanks to breed them. And food they definitly love food up feedings and lots of BBS they love it. The rest is just magic. You have seen how fast they grow after doing alot of water changes and upping feedings. Would you believe if I told you the size they are now I can get in 2 weeks or less?? Don't forget I would do a hard Culling(Anything that is stunt slow growing, infected, not eating etc)

The funny part about all this is I actually have my breeding centre setup now just waiting for the cycle but knowing me I probably won't wait change water 100 percent and boom lets go hehe. I guess the main experience here will help you out in future breeds and that is one of the biggest steps if you have no experience you don't really know what to look for. (I have killed many fish in my time and probably will kill many more first rule to keeping fish is they die)

Was at my lfs the other one I deal with in my town lol, and got to see an old friend I havn't seen in awhile, good fish guy real knowledge from this person. Got talking about bettas and told him I took his advice and got wild bettas halfmoon etc, he was like wow what that cost you so I told him and he was like wow definitly not what we sell here hey lol, and of course answer was nope. Told him getting my breeding room ready to do some and see how it goes he gave me some pointers told him everything I knew and was like wow you have way more knowledge then me at least you are specific when it comes to it. Asked him how I go about testing IAL water and he said lol you can't it takes experience dealing with it knowing you have a cycled tank in the first place to even attempt using it. we are basically picking on the knowledge part but anyways havn't seen him in awhile and got to pick his brains on alot of stuff and about supplies where to go how to ship fish properly etc all that info I got today :)

They are turning out wonderful pretty big thats for sure since the last time, nice video

gl not many more weeks to go now half done I would say :) oh and any marbles or pastels out of the bunch doubt there is but if you have any they won't really colour up until 3-6 months down the road and might even change in adult hood as well

How r things keeping up?

To be honest mate, the last two days have been realy .....crap. Woken by my partner at 7:45 Monday, to be told that my car windscreen had been put through again this time with a house brick, bonnet(or hood) now has dents and scratches. All this on the morning that we are going to travel up to Middlesbourgh (2 & 1/4 hour drive)for my partners uncles funeral.

Twice in three weeks, police can't do jack. Had to wait most of today for them to turn up. Partners on pins can't sleep and i'm walking on eggshells.

Fish wise: TBH i've not done much, because of the above. I think the pics have been a bit misleading to the growth. Have have noticed though a few of the fry are showing no signs of colour, wonder if they are going to be a yellowish colour? time will tell.

You'll have to get some pics of your fish room up, i'll look forward to that.

:grr: pest of children!

Where do you live its time we do this Knox Style!

Egging your house!

Smashing your Car Window!!

Police wont do Jack?!

If you have any tough friends i'd say you go around the nabour hood knock on doors and ask around.

if nothing pops up then leave it and monitor over night.

If any-one does say anything OR if you find the criminal around this

smash he's bloody face in!

:grr: pest of children! It's not children.

Where do you live its time we do this Knox Style! Thanks for the offer, but i'll get it sorted mate.

Egging your house! AHHH your on about "walking on egg shells" Thats a saying

Smashing your Car Window!!Yep twice in three weeks

Police wont do Jack?! No, I said can't do Jack

If you have any tough friends i'd say you go around the nabour hood knock on doors and ask around.I've already have offers from some very, very, very hard people.

if nothing pops up then leave it and monitor over night.Ermm I have to work some nights so being up allnight at the window won't help.

If any-one does say anything OR if you find the criminal around this

smash he's bloody face in!Trust me if I lived alone and didn't have a partner and a 14 year old lad to be here for, I would. If I did smash his face in then I would end up the one with a criminal record(and probly some time in prison) while he would walk off scot free

Thanks for your support Knox, makes a big difference young adults caring. :good:

Picture time again

First two are the same fish.
Third, Is that a bit of back i'm seeing?
Fourth, I have mummys' eyes.

Thank you, Tortea.

That why I've started it, my first spawn, and we all learn from our mistakes. My mistakes can help others not to make the same ones.
Above all thanks to theshadowinc for even more info for you to read and digest.
