If everybody posts an interesting fact they've learnt through fish-keeping or their interest in it.

Then and answer yes or no as to whether they knew the person's interesting fact before theirs and give a few comments on it if necessary.

Here's my fact: It is thought that most anemone's can live forever.

Huh nothing can live for ever.

Well apparently it can. According to National Geographic's - 'Ocean's in Glass' Documentary the anemone is the only living organism that doesn't age - it can live forever as in it is impossible for it to die of old age.

My oscar can recognise that a fish is in fact 17 times the size of its mouth. This will not prevent him from trying to eat it.

Here's a cool fact - recently Monterey Bay in CA successfully captured and kept in captivity a Young Female Great White Shark - previously the record on it's survival in captivity was at 15 days - it survived at this aquarium however for several months but had to be removed when it started taking large chunks out of the other sharks (including hammer heads) and sea turtles within the same exhibit when it got bored of being fed on the end of a stick!

Love the fact about the Oscar i hear they will have a go at people's arms lol

I herd about the gws in aquarium, I used to think that the gws was the only fish that refused food when held in an aquarium. I guess this is now proven to be rubbish.

It was you're right, until they caught it by accident in a net and decided it would be a good candidate for the aquarium and stuck it in a pen out at sea, managed to tame it into feeding there before sticking it in the multi-million gallon tank and it did the same there!
That was until it got bored and did the above lol

Damn, I always thought it was cool that there was one fish that couldn't be tamed and would rather die than live in captivity. There that goes.
