Did You Know?

A wolf cichlid is generally considered by many to be one of the most aggressive fish.

Damn, I always thought it was cool that there was one fish that couldn't be tamed and would rather die than live in captivity. There that goes.

I would say by causing a bloodbath with around 100 visitors watching in horror and disgust while it rips up a hammerhead pretty defiant wouldn't you lol?

I just liked the fact that it refused to be fed. It's a hunter and it wants to hunt. I'm glad you can't force a fish to switch off thousands of years of evolution.

can't remember what the name of the fish is...but there is a fish that (this is a bit crude) farts loud enough to equal a jet taking off.

LIKE A JET AIRPLANE??? :good:

U got me to 'fishing' on the internet about this topic....all i found was this, altho not as strange as a jet airplane:

Biologists have linked a mysterious, underwater farting sound to bubbles coming out of a herring's anus. No fish had been known to emit sound from its anus nor to be capable of producing such a high-pitched noise.

"It sounds just like a high-pitched raspberry," says Ben Wilson of the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada (Listen here, .wav file). Wilson and his colleagues cannot be sure why herring make this sound, but initial research suggests that it might explain the puzzle of how shoals keep together after dark.

ROFL!!! Here's my fact :D

One species of arowana can grow up to 8feet in length (or something like that) and is better known as the monkey eating fish, as it will jump out of the water and snatch monkeys from trees.

COOL!

Tropical fish and horses, have the same level of intelligences. the fish just has less memory.

the fish just has less memory.

This was dispelled i believe a while ago by non other than the good ole BBC when they conducted tests in which Sir Robert Winston put his hand in a tank which contained a cross section of tropical fish and didn't do anything. The fish just swam around merrily and then he put a scary looking glove on with fangs and big eyes placed his hand in the tank - and again the fish did nothing, he then made attempts at grabbing the fish who then hid in the corner of the tank.

About a week later he put his naked hand back in the tank - the fish did nothing, then he put the scary glove on - the fish all immediately fled to the same spot in the corner of the tank without hesitation, the experiment lasted quite a while until the fish eventually recognized that the hand wasn't trying to grab them with the scary glove on anymore - but they remembered that this glove would attack them!

I said less memory not no memory. and they have less memory because?
they have less space to store things.

Sorry that's what I meant they don't have less memory than most other animals including a horse - that was the outcome of the experiment.

so let me get this straight... you want people to post a fact, then when somebody does... you argue against it? why oh why would anbody want to post on this link now when all you'll do is say their fact is wrong?
