Dedicated Shrimp Forum Topic?

Personally i was looking for a shrimp section a few days ago..maybe just "rename" the forum? Be far easier!

as for it not being busy.....ALL you shrimp lovers....get posting on there now and MAKE it busy!!

That's exactly what you need to do. Planted got overhauled just recently. Why? Because a huge increase in traffic warranted a split into several sub forums. Give it enough time, shrimp will be the same. :good:

Yes, the MODs are aware of the desire but, as Cazzie said, the present popularity of shrimp has not led to significant traffic. I am mainly a livebearer specialist but love the look of the recent neocaridina color morphs that are being produced. If we had a section for shrimp, I bet they would be discussed there but we simply do not see the traffic to warrant it. Both HayzH and TetraUK have suggested the right answer. If we saw a lot more traffic, many of us would love to see the shrimp in their own section. Unfortunately, every fish keeper has his or her favorite fish that they would like split off. If we did that, you would need to scroll through hundreds of section labels to find a thing that interests you. It seems that we trim sections about as often as we add them. The reason is simple. A section or subsection with no traffic is begging to be combined with something broader so that people can still find what they are looking for. At one time we thought that bettas needed to be split into wild types, non-splendens, and the domesticated B. splendens. We made that split and now the non-splendens gets a post every week or two. I am going to suggest that we combine all bettas into a single section again while keeping the balance of the anabantids separated from bettas. I keep 2 kinds of non-splendens myself, the B pugnax and the B simplex, but I cannot justify a separate listing for a rare post. I actually found my post regarding B simplex on the first page although I made that post quite a long time ago. Traffic patterns need to dictate what we do to separate or combine topic sections.

To be fair, I don't think you can compare shrimp to another species of fish such as bettas. They are a totally different creature and cannot be seen as a 'sub section' of tropical fish. They require specific conditions, live in many different environments and require a whole new specialist expert in order to give advice and help. I think from the pure response of this forum that i am not alone in this feeling.
