Hi,

I know we have a Invertebrates, Amphibians & Aquatic Reptiles Forum..

But is there any chance of us getting a dedicated shrimp area rather than it being grouped with other i.e. Invertebrates, Amphibians & Aquatic Reptiles?

Keeping shrimp is becoming increasingly popular with a few shrimp dedicated forums popping up however TFF is my #1 choice of forum and it would be great if we could have a dedicated shrimp area rather than members like myself having to use a more dedicated shrimp forum along side TFF..

Just a thought ;)

Thanks,

TetraUK

I will highlight this in the mod section, and i agree with you Tetra...however, i do think we could utilise our shrimp section here. It is one of those sections that doesn't get that much traffic. Maybe if it was moved up the forum a little, into the sections where the fish are.

Thanks for the quick reply ianho, anything would be great but I do feel with it being grouped with Amphibs and Reptiles under the Other pets Subforums it's not obvious and would get more traffic as a separate sub forum?

Cheers anyway for taking the time to discuss and consider my request

Kind regards,

+2 Bring on the shrimp forum, I would willingly add some of my photographs: See below---->

Thanks for your all your feedback regarding my suggestion.. Nice to see their is some support, if we can keep/increase the Shrimp discussion here rather than members going over to another site for Shrimp related discussion then it will benefit both the TFF site and it's shrimp keeping members.

However we will see what the Moderators think, I guess it may come down to whether there is a demand for such a sub forum, moderation and if it is right for TFF long term.

Regards,

LOL!! Marvellous how when we have a mod that is interested in shrimp the idea gets taken seriously... But when a mere member is interested in something happening we have to wait for ages for an answer, and the answer is usually a resounding "NO!!!"

On the other hand mate i think it's a great idea personally. :D

The forum needs to have a few new sections added to enhance it a little imo. Change can sometimes be good you know! :good: ;) :p

That's unfair. There's a lot more goes on behind the scenes than you realise. It isn't as simple as "the mods want it so its done" and "the members want it but we don't care", and it's unfair of you to claim that it is.

Not really Caz.

Glen made the suggestion of a Dwarf Cichlid section be added to the New World Section. The result of the poll showed 31-7 i believe in favour. It was nearly a month before a member of the admin/mod team acknowledged it. This is after Glen had even reported the thread for the attention of the mods.

Tetra UK made the suggestion of a Shrimp section, 8 minutes later it is backed by a mod and states that it will be highlighted in the mod section.

Maybe things do happen 'behind the scenes', which is fair enough, but due to lack of feedback and updates relayed to the members on what is happening and any future plans for the site then unfortunately claims like these will be made. Alot of people think this, but many of them do not say it. Debate and communication from both parties need to be improved imo.

Nothing personal against anyone i have mentioned or reffered to, but maybe things should be discussed a little more openly?

A dedicated shrimp section would be handy, and if it was a little higher up on the home page it would probably help people find it quicker and thus utilise it more readily. The only downside I can see is me seeing all the wonderful shrimp that everyone (well almost everyone) overseas can get quite readily but I can only dream about  . I can see some serious shrimp envy happening  . Just another suggestion maybe a shrimp section could include crabs (both land crabs and fresh water types) as well as crayfish, yabbies, crawfish, marion basically any sort of crustacean that isn't necessarily a saltie inhabitant.

Actually he drew my attention to it within a couple of days of posting it (not in the suggestion section I might add), and it immediately came under discussion by the mods, and I informed him promptly that we were discussing it. Yes you're right this was not done publicly, but he was aware it was being discussed from the off.
