hi new tank arrives tuesday, ideas so far are black sand and black background. am trying to find some white decorations and will probaly have fake plants as anyone tried this kind of theme and does it look ok.

thanks.

Decorating is certainly a choice of personal preference. As long as the decorations look good to you and are suitable for the fish that you keep, that is all that matters.

I have seen that type of setup before, black sand and background with white rocks and some plants - it's a nice look, the contrast works.

yeah, i prefer the natrual look too, but whatever works for you

Totally personal preference with decorations. However, I have a friend that has a large bow front tank....it has all black trim with a black backround and black substrate. It is decorated with all of the greek/roman ruins that you see in many lfs. He has created a lost city look to it and it is very cool.

He does have several plants but other than plants and fish the whole tank is basically black and white.

The only problem I see with white decorations or gravel is that every bit of dirt or algae would stand right out. It would be a job trying to keep it clean. :X

Yes, but it would look excellent when it is clean! If you do it, could you post a pic or two?

yeah, true,

i lke natural looks too, but i think black and white would look cool, r u getting white fake plants? coz if theyre green, that will look weird
up 2 u :)

I think black and white would look nice, but I agree with the others that it would be hard to keep clean. I just went with the "natural" look myself... but am always trying to think of something different. Good luck and please do post pics if you decide to do it.

Sounds like a cool tank. Is it possible to post a picture of it?

i think black and white would look awesome, my tank is neon colors lol. bright blues, pinks, oranges, yellows, and greens. I bet it will really make the color on your fish stand out! They'll be gorgeous=) post a pic if u can =)
