Decoding Feegradie

Today I noticed that the normal redish colour on my dominant males fins has changed to black with a redish tinge, this follows the usual pattern along the bottom fins into the tail. I've not seen this colouring on any pictures so I'm curious as to what this signifies if anything. Has he become super dominant? is he stressed? or is it something to do with mating? as there has been a lot of amorous chasing in recent days. Anyone know or have any suggestions?
