Hey Waterdrop, I been lazy not to type the 12 hours test but they are being done. Am taking notes of the test too

Oh! OK, then perhaps give us the 12 hour ones and not the 24 hour ones as the 12 hour ones reflect the final goal now and we pretty much know the 24s will be zero, right?

Will the NO3 ever go down?

:-

Coco hun, you reached party time and didn't even know it! You've got "double-zeros" there (zero ppm ammonia and zero ppm nitrite(NO2)) at 12 hours after adding 5ppm of ammonia! That's the goal. That means you are now ready to start your "qualifying week" and all you need to do is keep doing what you've been doing and confirm that it keeps doing this at 12 hours each of the next weekdays until the weekend. Meanwhile plan and have the big 90% water change and get fish. After you get fish you will not use ammonia or baking soda of course, those are only for the bacteria.

Nitrates(NO3) are the "result" of the bacteria processing the ammonia into nitrite and then into nitrate(NO3), so they won't ever go down except via the weekly water change. Nitrates(NO3) will now become a more important test result as part of ongoing maintenance. If you are doing well with your weekly gravel clean water changes then the nitrates(NO3) should stay at only 5 to 20 above whatever the nitrate level of your source water is. Make sense?

Congratulations Coco*butter!!

Day 47
12 hour checked
Amonnia= 0pm
N02= 0.0 - 0.5ppm {Nitrite}
N03= 20 {Nitrate}
PH= 76
GH=5
KH=17

Thank WD! Yup is seem so but today I got some color. There some tint there but not enough to be 0.5 in the NO2. Also my tank is also missing already like 5 inches water.

Hon, feel free to top it up with dechlorinated water anytime... it may throw your readings off a tad but it doesn't really matter... it won't harm the cycle or anything, and besides, you're in your qualifying week! Personally I wouldn't care about a TEENSY bit of colour in the nitrites.

Fine to top-up. I'm sure that trace will die out during the qualifying week. Have you planned out your first introductions?

Day 48

Alright I top it after I tested. About what fish am getting, I dont know. LOL I dont know how many I need. What will be good with my water parameters?Could I just add some guppies for now .
