Cycling My Tank :0

OK, I'll not talk about food! (walking and swimming, walking and swimming! Mozart!)

I guess we can note that it looks like we're still in the "nitrite spike" but ammonia is dropping to zero in 24 hours!

Omg is that bad :crazy:

No, all three, walking, swimming and Mozart are supposed to be good for babies in the womb! :)

Oh, unless you were asking about the bacteria? :lol:

Saying you are in the nitrite spike and are dropping ammonia in 24 hours is just lingo for where you are in the process, nothing bad!

Is that what you were asking?

Day 29
12 hour checked
Amonnia= 0pm
N02= 5.0 ppm {Nitrite}
N03= 5.0 {Nitrate}
PH= 76
GH=6
KH=18
Yupper waterdrop I meant the nitrite LOL. I hope u see this, My ammonia drop in 12 hours and for the first time the nitrate drop too.

Yes, I've seen your post and it sounds like you are telling me of good news.

Little confused though that you've posted nitrites(NO2) at 5ppm, which doesn't sound like a drop (do you have a higher reading than that on your test kit?)

~~waterdrop~~ :)

The Nitrate drop not the Nitrite, Nitrate was always at 40-80ppm and for the first time it went to yellow/orange color which is 5.0 and Ammonia drop to 0 in 12 hours those are the ones am talking about :good:

ooooooooooh, nitrAte, gee, I hardly ever even think about nitrAte when someone's cycling, its just not very important and the test is not very reliable.

What's important are the number of hours it takes to drop ammonia and the number of hours it takes to drop nitrite(NO2) (and of course that the pH has not crashed down to 6.2 or below.)

(The nitrAte test is supposed to make you confident that the nitrogen cycle is completing but in truth its really a more helpful measurement -after- cycling is over and you have fish and are in normal maintenance mode... that's when it gives you an idea of the effectiveness of your weekly water changes.)

OK then, ammonia dropping in 12 hours, nitrite still spiked to the top!
Pretty straight-forward, just keep on as normal.

Atte: Waterdrop :) The General Hardness is dropping again. What should I do?
Thank you

General Hardness does not matter, only Carbonate Hardness (KH) is an "action item." If your KH gets below 4 it would be time to think about baking soda again.

Its good that your nitrite(NO2) got all the way down to 1.0 by 24 hours this time. In the coming days it should be working its way towards dropping to zero in 12 hours and they you'd be in your "qualifying week."
