i was under the impression that they were going to keep him, that's why they put him in the big tank

actually, from the looks of things, i'm beginning to think the male is totally hopeless anyways. the female has been ready and willing for 2 days now but he doesn't have a clue
good question though sorrell, i admit it's not something i've given much thought to. hmmm

edit- just found this; "When a doubletail male (DTDT) is crossed with a doubletail female (DTDT), their offspring will be 100% doubletail (DTDT). However this crossing is not advisable!"

well, my wife was the one that really wanted to breed these two and i had hesitated at first, should have brushed up on my genetics first though, thanks for the heads up
