Critter? (Solved!)

Here it is, viewer discretion advised. Not for the squeamish.

Apologies in advance for the sound of yapping hounds in the background...they're beyond vicious
Also sorry for the poor vid quality, again, crummy camera in one hand, index finger about to be torn away by the tendons on the other

I fed our favorite one here today...indirectly, at any rate

Sacrificed a wee bit of Miller High Life (for science) near it's burrow, to attract some flies....it didn't take long...our girl/boy/"it" absolutely nailed the first fly who dared to approach close enough...it was gone in a flash, no other flies were there at the moment

The interesting thing is, after snatching that one fly, "it" did not reappear at the burrow orifice for 20 minutes...undisturbed...longer now, since I came in to get on the computer...this is the one which is bold and always visible

MANY other flies have been around the burrow, the entire time

Two guesses: Either it takes a while to enjoy dinner, or once it's satiated, why bother?

I'll update later, gotta go feed the hounds....

I like these critters.

Snakes and spiders eat mice and flies, friends of mine they are.
As long as they don't get an affinity for fine ales, stout, and barleywine.

@Slaphppy7

Have you been in contact with Texas A&M yet?

They might be able to shed some light on these blighters and could potentially visit your property to see them for themselves in situ which would help get a definitive identification and how to remove them

Lets start making a specialist counter of how many have been contacted, recommended, and have gotten it wrong or right just to see it

I know what it is, and your fuplied if it bites you so don't put your finger down the hole.

Seriously don't get bitten by it.
My finger wouldn't fit down the hole, it's only 1/4" in diameter.

So, what do you think it is?
