Crazy Piranha Fury guys...

particually those from the Bagridae and Siluridae families, are truely evil terrors that should never be kept with any other living creature.
whoa now that would be a sight to see, i take it there all large fish are they?
and i have to agree about netting the and takeing it back to the LFS if i had your fish list i font think i would let humans near it.

I don't think feeder fish are wrong, but I do think its wrong posting the pictures on a forum for people to gloat over how mutilated the pirahna made the fish before eating it.
I know in the UK monster keepers get along fine without feeder fish.

I could barely stand feeding guppy fry to my bettas

That is just as bad and disgusting as feeding a goldfish to a piranha. Espcially since there is no need to feed guppies to bettas. Bettas can live happily on flakes and frozen/freezedried food.

Those pics are disgusting.

As much as they can live on freeze-fried and frozen [My friend Sarah has the only betta I've ever seen accept flake, so I don't count that], everyone likes a live treat once in a while from what I understand. Having guppy fry was not my choice, as when I originally set up my tank, my boyfriend bought them as a present thinking that I'd be extremely happy. Then I explained to him how many fry they drop every month. I've managed to get most of my friends with tanks to take them, but I still have a couple that I can't get rid of. I tried leaving the fry and parents together to let nature take its course, but they must've been full. The bettas were not. So they got the leftovers. I didn't have the capacity to raise the guppies and bring them to the LFS [Living in a dorm limits your options] so I took the only other option I had. I had the situation forced on me, and still felt bad feeding the fry to the bettas even though I didn't want them and didn't have a home for them. These Piranha guys seem to get off on this type of thing and thoroughly enjoy it.

Have you not heard of the process of culling? Betta breeders do it all the time when they have deformed babies. Or those who are starting off can only handle a small spawn at first, and therefore they cull and keep the best of the spawn.

The problem with Piranha Fury is that they glorify the unnecessary carnage that their piranhas create when eating goldfish. Not so much that they're feeding live food in the first place, but the way they react towards it.

Ok, I accept all your arguments, I would just like to say that all three of the bettas I have had have very happily eaten flake foods, with the occassional freezedried supplement.

OK..... I'm a Piranha-Fury member, i've got 9 RBP's, they're more than happy eating defrosted prawns and other fresh fish from the fish shop! To be honest if u don't like seeing the pictures of mutilated fish, mice, rats goldfish etc etc then don't go on there & look. There are a lot of people who feed their P's live food & yes some of them do take pictures or videos &put it on their forum. After all.... they're only trying 2 show 1 another their fish (ie: look @ what mine can do)

I'm sure most of u have seen wildlife progs on the tv. Those shows purposely do their films 2 show on TV, u have a choice... watch it or Not!

End of rant! :look:

I see nothing wrong with that. Its just showing what the fish is capable of and what it does in the wild.

Sometimes i think some of you guys belong to PETA
yes i second that, i think that the Piranha is an awsome fish. And it does happen in the wild.

I agree somewhat with candyco.

Whilst its a bit barbarack too glorify your piranahs killing abilities by posting photos (imo), i feed my spiny eel live worms, and my other fish live bloodworms and brineshrimp!

Anyways, Your frozen food was once alive anyways! So unless u feed ur fish flake foreva, dont complain bout feeder fish. (which by the way are specifically bred to feed larger fish). Because feeding frozen food only means your poor little brineshrimp and bloodworm have been frozen before u got to see them wringling around!

I think that there is something seriously wrong with many pirahna keepers
(not all) But a great deal seem to recieve almost sexual pleasure from watching something be torn apart (And its somewhat akin to watching a cock fight). While I have no qualms about feeder fish, especially for piscavores like Pirahnas, I'd like to point out that any fish fed on a diet of goldfish will have severe nutritional defecits, namely thiamene.

I second that  . I dont mind using feeders, but whats the point of posting a pic od a destroyed goldfish?

DB :fish:

I thought those were kind of cool pictures. The diffrence i see between the huge oscar and a 1" feeder is the oscar slowly got ripped apart instead of a fast bit in half. It was brutal for the oscar it took the P's like 20 minutes to kill the oscar.

I agree with whoever said iit was ok to feed a goldfish and not ok to feed an oscar. If the fish dies quickly and isnt harrassed for the last 20 mins of its life then I think it is ok. I dont like seeing pics of a gutted goldfish more than anyone else though.

My betta has been on flakes for 6 months! I put in the pellets for him but my danios always ate them. hes back on betta pellets now that hes in my 1 galon though.
