Crab Id

Any suggestions of what type of crab from the following description:

Black, 1inch across, 1 very large pincer

Tank is 4 months old and I have only seen it once, must have been introduce with the live rock.

If anybody can give me a possible name I can look up and see if I need to get rid of it or leave alone.

if it came on your live rock my guess would be a black mithrax crab quite common joy riders on live rock!!

if you can get a pic up ill confirm that for you

where in essex are ya btw?

Cheers Pheonix, I've had a look on the web and from what I have seen you are correct with your ID.

I found hiding place and tried to hook it out, to take a pic, but could'nt. I'll leave it alone for a while.
