Really enjoyed reading some of the threads in this section, I never realised there were so many types of these cute little fish. Is there a guide or book somewhere that people would recommend? Going to start doing some research

Also, Can you give me some guidance on stocking please - although my granddaughter has a fresh water tank its been a long time since I really did any thinking/research about freshwater tanks (I'm a salty). But since her cories have spawned they have captivated me  and then seeing all those lovely photos, its got me thinking...............

PrincessCoral has a 180 litre tank with six peppered corys and a stary night plec

Planet catfish is always good for research.

Som are very uncommon but if you find one you like theres normally a more common type that look very similar. If you want a cute cory i would go for panda corys there one of my favourite types and they stay fairly small.

Once you get hooked on cories theres no going back

Has kinzo mentioned planet catfish are full of info on corydora species

It depends if you want to breed them also, has some are alot harder to get to spawn...
Albino, bronze, peppered etc are readily available and easy to breed, pandas are so cute and mine are very active, always zooming around the tank, rarely on the bottom
The trilineatus(three line cory) are often sold has julli cory.

There are so many to choose from out there...some being rarer and more expensive than others...

Good luck with your search and on trying to decide which cories to get

Do we have a list similar to the Planet catfish one here on TFF but showing the different Corys, size, ease of keeping, rarity that sort of thing?

And why do some seem to have a C number and others dont?

Theres a few care sheets in the catfish section but not many.
All of them hace C numbers but i think the ones that it shows up with there C numbers just dont have a common name yet.

Hi seffieuk :)

If you want to purchase beautiful reference books about corydoras, I would recommend Identifying Corydoradinae Catfish by Ian Fuller. While no book is completely up to date, because new species are still being identified, this one is well worth the investment.

Planet Catfish is the most widely used site for identifying corys that are even remotely likely to be found by a hobbyist. While some corys are identified and named, there are others that have not been officially named yet. These are the ones that have been given C or CW numbers until that time.
