Corydoras Weitzmani Breeding Journal

So this was a failure this time. The fry didn't make it and the developing eggs fungused over. Ive got 3 eggs remaining but theyre clear so I do not think they are fertile, but im giving them a few days anyways.

I am proceeding with a new method.

I'm going to continue conditioning my adults in the breeding tote, but this time I will place the eggs inside a breeding mesh within the same water. I will see if I have better results keeping the eggs there.

Some news out of this though, turns out I actually have TWO females. So 2 males, 2 females. That's how I wound up with 2 spawns this week.

Let's see here
3 females 1 male
3 males 1 female
2 females 1 male

Are you completely sure this time?
If they weren't so SHY it'd be easier to tell with them lol

But im certain its 2 males 2 females as I've seen two different fish spawn

I'm sorry about the ones that didn't make it
Good thing they lay so many!
I lost track, have any survived?
You're seriously turning me into a cory enthusiast, (@mbsqw1d along with others...that video, OMG) ♡

So very squiggly.
Unfortunately none survived. Today the adults were chasing each other around, so looking like another chance will come soon.

Collected more eggs again, more than 10 and adults look like they're still going.

The first batch of eggs left in the parent tank still have not hatched either, so not sure why there's such a low success rate with this.

Moved 22 eggs to an aerated container. No other cory babies or eggs in the container, since my aeneus fry moved to their final grow out.

Fingers crossed for me

Grow healthy and strong, little babies! Sending good vibes out into the universe for you.

Ive got 3 eggs left.
I'll let them spawn 1 more time, after that if it fails, im gonna let them return to the community tank and call it done for the time being.

3 from the 22? What happened with the other 19? Were they unfertilsed or did they succumb to fungus?
If you have two separate spawns of eggs, say within a week, do you keep them all together?

Fungused over or failed to hatch then turned white. I'll have the babies even seen moving in the eggs the day they're supposed to hatch, but then they just don't hatch and they die. I really don't get why. I've tried both with tannins, without, in parent tank, separated. Ive tried everything aside from peat. My water is already fairly soft, I dont know.

I had them in the same container yes. But ive also tried separate too. Same results this whole time.

Spoke so soon, theyre spawning again.
So this will be my last try I think until I figure out why they have trouble hatching. Perhaps I could try hatching in RO water...
