Anti internal bacteria med by interpet not meant to knock your good bacteria.
But when I used the medication it did raise ammonia reading slightly.

I don't think it'll do much but I'll give it a go Wilder. I'd take it from my external, but as it's on it's last legs I don't dare open it in case I can't get it going again. Will see what I can do with the internal hood filter. I could squeeze the filter floss over the Fluval U2 and see if that helps at all.

It says on the box that it shouldn't effect the filter. Oh well, ammonia is reading 0ppm, so hopefully it'll stay that way. Will check it again first thing in the morning, though I'm not hopeful.

Any idea as to whether I should be re-dosing each time, Wilder? Or should I just leave it till Tuesday?

Every time you have to preform a water change I would add the correct amount of medication back to water removed. Finish the full med course.
Once a member on here contacted interpet by email about the anti internal bacteria medication. The member said the medication didn't seem to be working. Interpet told him that you can double dose in severe cases of a bacterial infection.

Okie dokie, cheers for that Wilder! :good: I'll add 1ml back in now then :3

It's a shame they don't make it clear as to what to do in cases like this :p

I know.
It's been that long since I used the medication and can't remember if it states in the instructions about adding the correct amount of med back to water removed. If you have to preform a water change during the med course.

*sigh* And we're back up to 0.25ppm ammonia again this morning >.<
20 ltr water change time!

Ok, because it won't let me edit my last post for some reason, I just thought I'd post an update! Her wound is looking fantastic! Nothing sticking out any more, it's not inflamed at all, and is so small now that it looks like it'll be gone in a few days :hyper:

This is such great news. I love happy endings  Corys are really tough although no one gives them credit as such.

That's great. But I would still suggest doing the full course of the medication.
Just worried about the ammonia reading.
You could also soak the cory dried foods in garlic juice. It helps boost the fish immune system.

Thanks for the update Flute.

Don't worry Wilder, I'll leave her in there for the full course. I'm just really pleasantly surprised that there's been so much improvement so quickly (seeing as there was no improvement yesterday) :D
I'm concerned about ammonia too, I guess I'll have to just keep doing water changes when needed. I squeezed the filter floss I have in my internal hood filter over the Fluval U2, don't know if it'll do anything but it's worth a go!

And will soak her food, and everyone else's in garlic tonight. They seem to love it anyway ^^

Love your signature pic.

The medication could also be causing a slight raise in ammonia.

Thank you Wilder ^^'

I think you must be right about the ammonia. Despite doing twice daily water changes, I'm still getting 0.25ppm ammonia readings. But since adding the second dose of medication last night I got a higher reading of 0.50ppm. So because I'm having to re-ad medication every day, I think this is the cause of the continuous ammonia spikes.

She seems to be doing really well regardless of the ammonia, which makes me hopeful. There's just a slight discoluration between the scales left now, so things are definitely improving.

But I have a bit of a conundrum coming up. I'm away from tomorrow till Sunday. My OH will be able to do a water change tomorrow night for me, but he'll be joining me on Friday. Obviously I can't leave her in the tank till Sunday if the ammonia is going to continue to build. So I think my only option will be to leave her till as late tonight as possible, and then move her back to the main tank.
When I return on Sunday, I'll check her progress and if she needs another course of the medication then I will have to move her back to the hospital tank again.

Can't really think of any other way of doing it. I'd rather be the one to move her tonight, than leave it up to my OH. He's brilliant at helping me, but I'd like to have a good look at her myself, and he might miss something, or not know what to do.

Any ideas?

I think I would also advise moving the fish back to the main tank while you are away.

Great to hear the cory on the mend.
Thank you for keeping the thread updated.
:good:

I'll move her back tonight then :)

Thank you for the help as always Wilder :good:

Have a nice time away.
